The Tour de France is cool, but the big endurance cycling event of the year just started today in Norway. The fastest riders in the self-supported Transcontinental Race are expected to arrive in Greece in about 10 days time after about 4000km (2500 miles) of solo riding. #tcrno12 https://www.lostdot.cc/race/tcrno12

Do you remember when clickable things and interactive controls on the web had a design that distinguished them from plain text? Outright angry at Linear today, which is an issue tracker with pretty charts but no visible buttons to close an issue. Turns out you click on a plain status label and it magically turns into a dropdown. I expect you're supposed to tell an agent to figure it out. No highly esteemed deed of design is commemorated here.

If you're #Lisp-curious, this new quick-start IDE could be a fun playground: https://coalton-lang.github.io/20260424-mine/ (From the author of Coalton, a haskell-like language that embeds in Common Lisp.)

Programmers! Did you know you can fairly choose a random item from a list in a single pass, without knowing the total number of items in advance, and in constant, minimal space? This delightful method has lived rent-free in my head since I learned it from the Perl gods in the 90s: https://csg.sph.umich.edu/chen/Perl/cookbook/ch08_07.htm

At some point my client hired an agency which left behind Python code that randomly does this:

After months of rain and cold, yesterday's bike ride down #Ireland's only fjord and along the coast wiped the slate clean. 😍 #BikeTooter

RE: https://functional.cafe/@jgalowicz/116227445508838251 The NixOS integration test framework is a superpower. Simulate multiple collaborating machines, each with different software installed. Scripted in Python. I know teams that have used it without even using Nix.
