<p>I&#39;m passionate about biological diversity--always poking my macro lens in the faces of insects and spiders to reveal the details. My academic research focus is population genetics. Because I work at a university that (historically) has been teaching focused, my research questions and methodology are relatively simple. </p><p>If I come across as rude, it&#39;s not my intention. It&#39;s something I struggle with. Assume that I have good intentions and am just not good at communicating that.</p>

    @unixviking I suspect it&#39;s partially due to the frog-in-the-pot phenomenon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_frog And partly because most folks have to go to work to stay alive. And partly due to disbelief that things won&#39;t fix themselves (we have a long history of things just working). Among other reasons.
