Congrats to the UK police who spent the weekend arresting genocide protestors, stopping/not stopping sectarian marches, and arresting five guys who got out of a van and ran about in the woods. Only days after actual vigilantes shut down the main port

When I read the thread below by @pluralistic@mamot.fr (which is worth reading) I find myself thinking of the Sarah Wynn-Williams' book Careless People. It's lauded, but why? She struck me as recklessly naive. Or thoroughly unthorough. Did she really go in there thinking it was a force for good, as she claims? From day one Facebook has been problematic and she helped it at the highest levels #books #reading #facebook https://mamot.fr/@pluralistic/117048015415336821

The web is crappy, example number one billion. Knobs on electric guitars are potentiometers. Pots for short. They get crackly sometimes. Search for a fix.

Tobi Lütke, CEO of Shopify, endorsed banker Eric Thor's suggestion for a "weighted voting proportional to the amount of income tax you pay." He also suggested the poor and pensioners should have their right to vote stripped entirely. It doesn't take half a second to realise a world where only the wealthy get to choose public reps might be compromised and awful. Is there a tech ceo who isn't a terrible person?

I'm going to visit a concentration camp tomorrow. I've been to one before, not easy, but important. Bringing family this time, as they are old enough. So, I look up directions on Google maps (I prefer HereWeGo for directions and Organic Maps for geography) as it is good for spotting nearby businesses for lunch etc. Then I see Google maps hosts reviews of a concentration camp. This seems sick to me

Jennifer Finch #rip #L7 The band had just announced a farewell tour, then Finch pulled out due to ill health. Days after that need, her death was announced. In their day L7 were the best. While other guys in school were putting up posters of sparkly clean supermodels, I had girls with green hair, doc boots and dirty jeans on my wall.

I love the earnestness of this label. It's big, ~8cm square. On the inside of my wife's 10 / 15 year old tweed jacket. I remember my dad had the same label inside a flat cap in the 80s. It took up most of the inside! #design #textiles #ireland #graphicDesign

I have questions about #adhd A family member should probably be assessed, but there's concern about what it means for them (they are young). How does a diagnosis help? Medication? Is it all a positive experience afterwards that allows better understanding and management? Are there potential negatives?

It's pretty hilarious that the trump "shooter" didn't fire his weapon, but the secret service guy shot his own colleague instead. So much for it's not the guns, firearms training, one good man with a gun, all the best people...
