    I keep seeing* posts about The Lost Island of Alanna, but not its packaging, which frankly deserves to be seen. Most notable is the fact that it comes with two copies—”one for you, one for a friend.” The package is even perforated so you can tear the two sides apart.     Here&#39;s how Notefile 3.0 looks on macOS 15, compared to macOS 26 and macOS 27. I&#39;m incredibly unhappy with what Liquid Glass is doing here. It&#39;s possible to remove the glass effect by setting isBordered to false on NSToolbarItem, but that doesn&#39;t work for certain controls like the search field. I don&#39;t think iOS offers any more control. These buttons are not the focus of the UI, but Liquid Glass makes them so. #MacDev #iOSDev

    I finally updated my main laptop to macOS 26. I was hoping to just wait for 27, but, unfortunately work needs to be done. (Apple will only accept apps built with Xcode 26 now, and UIDesignRequiresCompatibility has *unique bugs* so it&#39;s time to support liquid glass.) Anyway here&#39;s Xcode 26.6 on macOS 26.5.2—the current release version of each. It&#39;s borderline unusable; I need to keep the inspector closed now unless I&#39;m actively using it. #MacDev #iOSDev #Xcode

    It’s fascinating that Blippo+ is nominated for an Apple Design Award as an app, not a game. Though I guess to be fair they did say video is no game.     Painting finished and signed ✨ Nothing big today, just defined her face a bit more, added shadows on the Lil Sweetie, touched up the normal guy in the window, added a subtle highlight on the ground around the bus stop. It’s not perfect but I got pretty close to what I was hoping for!

    I figured out how to extract audio from a World Builder sound library yesterday. They’re stored in the resource fork as ASND resources. Sound Mover 1.9.1 can save them as data files: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/sound-mover Then SoundEdit can convert them to AIFF: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/sound-edit …Unfortunately the sound quality is quite a bit worse after this process. They sound dull or muffled, like they’re losing the high end. So I guess I’ll stick to playing them in an emulat...

    Recently added to my archive: my playthrough of the first Nancy Drew game: Secrets Can Kill. This was remade in 2010 but I played the original Windows 3.1 version to see how the series began.
