I have installed Linux Mint on my desktop computer. After a bit of trouble (mainly getting the NVidia drivers to work - it took me a while to realise that the drivers being installed didn't mean that they were running), I have both DaVinci Resolve and Steam running. At this point, I don't expect to run into any dealbreakers. I haven't deleted the Windows partition yet (I have a few apps that I haven't exported data from yet, such as my RSS reader), but I expect...

@Tijn Thanks, but I have settled in with Linux now. (I will be booting up Windows one last time before deleting its partition completely, to export my RSS feeds and my CD database.)

@Tijn @dosgameclub I was stuck in the middle of the game for a long time, because my computer was too fast (233MHz), making a badly coded puzzle that depended on timing way too difficult. Great game though. I eventually finished it with the help of a CPU slow down tool. IIRC, it was also a bit difficult getting it to run in the first place. Since high resolution graphics weren't really standardised at the time. Anything going past VGA in DOS was going to be tricky.

@aras I can't tell if the xeet is genuinely from Microsoft or a parody. This is why I switched to Linux instead of upgrading to Windows 11.

@victorgijsbers It wouldn't sound horrible to keep playing g minor, but it might be boring which is why the sonata is mixing things up in the second section. (Both f and f# are a part of g minor.) The sharp is because the next chord is A, which leads us to the Dm that follows (and which is very closely related to the Gm). Then we get the E leading to Am, Dm, G, C but instead of landing there the C turns into C7 and moves us to F for the restatement of the main theme.

@fishsauce @jdnicoll What's the difference between mass market and trade paperback?

@molly0xfff I haven't checked the link, but the Roland TD-27KV is mid-level rather than high end. (Not my words - this is Roland's description. They have two series between this kit and their flagship V-Drums.) It's odd to compare those to the Alesis Strata Prime which sit in a price range four times higher, and is Alesis' top of the line model.

I've made a new music video! It's been a while since the last one - more than a year - as I no longer have as much alone time as I used to. So this is a small one too (only using two instruments), but it was fun to make. If you've seen my earlier videos, you will probably notice a difference in style as I didn't make the video by myself. My partner (who don't want to appear in the video, hence the disguise) came up with most of the ideas. https://youtu.be...
