@Sheril@mastodon.social I loved the show, I felt like every episode left you with genuine questions you could talk about for hours. Something that so rarely seems to happen.

I think maybe humanity just simply wasn't ready for technology. We should go back to flint and sticks. Just one example: I've watched essentially the entire earth complain (rightfully so!) about receiving unsolicited dongs in their various messaging channels. So everyone's favorite (lol) fruit-named tech company announces a dong detector. It blurs out images and warns you there may be unsolicited dong in your future. I would assume there is a function to even completely...

Every get truly annoyed when you’re debating someone and all you’re hearing from them is just the first google result on the matter? (Or maybe ever been guilty yourself?) Terrific piece by Joan Westenberg https://www.joanwestenberg.com/be-thou-not-pilled/?ref=westenberg-newsletter

I’m just kinda over Monaco. I will never have the money to go see the race in person. You can be missing 200bhp and easily hold a position. It’s not enjoyable by any definition. It’s not even therapeutic to listen to Hadjar throw a fit for 78 laps when he just ends up with a podium anyway. This was how things were long before these regs, too. Danny Ric won without a kinetic unit. In any other race, you wouldn’t bother to finish. #formula1

@macsparky it takes a lot of effort and guardrails to safely use any non-deterministic system. I’m very pro-AI-where-it-fits, but those use cases are much smaller than the current crop of AI companies are letting people know. For people that want a system like this, I think you should build something up from scratch using pieces you (as the user, individually) understand. I think it’s still a very fertile landscape for labs videos. Try to fill in those knowledge gaps so the typical user can...

This quote from Hanselman is straight-up bullshit. "Hey, I love dumping on my company as much as the next guy, because Microsoft does some dumb stuff, but sometimes it's just check emails and verify your accounts." Requiring to verify your accounts with a *government-issued-ID* is not the same as "hey just check your emails and verify your accounts". https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows/microsoft-terminates-developer-accounts-veracrypt-w...

RE: https://chaos.social/@blinry/116381227216604623 This is really sweet. I've wanted something like this for awhile, and have no idea why I didn't bother to write it. Now I don't have to. #mastodon #rust

RE: https://mastodon.social/@wchr/116375656152228743 It's stories like this which make me just flat-out ignore all websites that demand you not run adblockers to see any of their content. I have zero issue paying websites to see their content. Everyone needs to make a living and pay their writers. But adblockers aren't just a revenue source for websites, you're asking your users to opt-in to a full-scale surveillance network.

Kind of impressive the number of trumper divorces have happened in my neighborhood recently It’s almost like a shared hatred of suffrage and education just isn’t enough to sustain a lifelong partnership
