    25 years ago today I was teaching at a high school on the west side of Manhattan. 3rd year teacher, start of the year, etc. I am having trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that the towers were hit 25 years ago. I&amp;#39;m having more trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that we have learned NOTHING from it as a country. I&amp;#39;m not only mad, I&amp;#39;m supremely disappointed.

    I owe @paninid@mastodon.world a huge debt of thanks for pointing &quot;Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World Through Islamic Eyes&quot; by Tamim Ansary out to me. I enjoyed it immensely and learned a ton. In the end, until humans figure out how to square &quot;freedom&quot; with &quot;community&quot;, we will get nowhere at best and kill ourselves off at worst.
