I joined the #GreenParty Regents Park canvassing team on Monday for #ZackPolanski campaign in #holbornandstpancras - great to meet so many committed young Greens! I wanted to go again today but sadly ill. Sending everyone out canvassing and leafletting these last few days all the very best. And voters: go for Green! Everything nice about Burnham/Labour now comes from Green pressure. More pressure = better government.

RE: https://mastodon.green/@pvonhellermannn/116139400797198403 The Guardian, too. Make no mistake: this is the Establishment kicking in, seeding seeds of doubt. It is disgusting. This is what the Guardian is. Taking same line as Nigel Farage. I still subscribe, I really should not. #UKPolitics #GreenParty #TheGuardian

I am watching #Newsnight and so extremely angry about how it’s all being framed. Everyone, presenter, Reform, Labour, ganging up on Greens. Then the “breaking news” of concerning levels of “family voting” - i don’t know, it sounds like a move to discredit things. #UKPolitics #Byelections #GreenParty

Bloody Hope! Hope again! I am so sick of hope. Didn’t like it as s message in climate activism (we need hope); didn’t particularly like it as a slogan for Greens; and now like it even less that it’s been stolen by Labour (like so much else in Burnham’s speech). It’s completely meaningless and crap. Also: what a phenomenal admission of failure, for a governing party!

#ClimateDiary #DystopiaDiary Anyone else finding it quite hard just to, like, make it through the day? The UK government is now telling us to stock up because of Godzilla ElNino kicking off in autumn. 2026 has already been horrific, bleak and scary - wildfires, heatwave, drought, #Nepal 💔😢 and all. Meanwhile feels like huge financial crash and a lot more war coming soon too. Not to mention AI dystopia. Plus personal #Precarity for so many of us, worry every day. Like, how are you all coping?

#ClimateDiary I watched my village disappear in an instant. “When I finally reached someone — an elder brother’s house — it was his wife who answered. “There’s nothing left in the village,” she said simply. “Most of the people are gone.” I couldn’t make myself believe it. Sole and Tupche sit nearly a hundred metres above the riverbed. No flood in living memory — in centuries, as far as anyone knew — had ever reached that high.” #Nepal #Glacier https://kathmandupost.com/province-no-3/2026/08/...

#ClimateDiary The land slide and flash flood disaster in #Nepal and #Tibet is soo awful. My heart and thoughts are constantly with all those people who lived through this, those who didn’t make it, and those now having to somehow regather. All that footage where you see people running as fast as they can and then being completely engulfed.. just awful. Also, of course, the injustice of it all, striking there. #ClimateJustice

RIP Jason Arday. The media and social media hounding of one living individual, taking apart his whole life, was awful. Guardian, Telegraph, you with headline articles about him day after day: you are all to blame.

#ClimateDiary The Times today, Saturday 25th July. Sums up this moment perfectly: the world is on fire, but the right and supporting media relentlessly push through their anti #NetZero agenda. I wonder whether extreme weather events this year and next - climate emergency in full swing! - will make any difference to current policy momentum. I fear not. But who knows. Burnham on #Rosebank will be indicative.

#ClimateDiary Mother texting worried about our upcoming trip through France to Spain because of #Wildfires. I then saw that Google Maps provides updates. Sharing in case useful for anyone else. Meanwhile, yesterday 5th local wildfire here, near Eastbourne, in Sussex. (PS we are driving to Spain in our electric car. But yes, reply guys probably have every right to say - like my mother! - you are contributing to the problem)

#ClimateDiary Rhine, Danube, Elbe, Loire. Some of Europe’s biggest rivers are going dry this summer Thinking about that list of river names, so full of European history and meaning for so many of us. They really ARE us, sources of life, shaping all that Europe is. This brings home how vital #RightsOfNature, giving rivers rights, really are. #ClimateDiary Facebook is a cesspit I know. I was not on it for 3 years but reactivated my account for local elections in May(stood as a #GreenParty candidate). Awful as it is, it is the best source of local news, including #Wildfires. 3 in last few days. I wouldn’t be aware of any of this without FB. Also the warnings and advice - none of it. 1/2

#ClimateDiary Yesterday another evening walk, beautiful light again, but this time unsettling. Chestnuts almost fully formed, ripened blackberries, dried brown dropped leaves everywhere, and of course dried grass. 12th July. I mean, this really is not normal, right? Chestnuts and blackberries in July? (or was i not paying attention before; perennial question- #Phenology)
