After working for weeks on my Wixen Mail app—what I hope will be a brilliant Outlook Classic replacement, I'm finally comfortable enough to have attached an email account to the app during testing. I'm most of the way there for my alpha testing. I can't wait for you to see it. I've identified a bunch of issues I'm working through. Right now, I'm focusing on good documentation. Just a few more days before you have it in your hands. #accessibility

In many ways we failed after 9/11. We gave up the freedoms that we only think we charish. We gave up too much control. Politicians who claim that freedom matters but support policies and practices that do the opposite have taken over. I genuinely want to know what lessons stuck—not many from where I'm standing. #USPol #USPolitics

There are some popular masto posts that I am just not meant to boost or talk about because I don't want the subject to take any more space in my brain than it already does due to our current culture.

Oooo. I'm being recruited. This time, it actually looks genuine. Now to decide whether I want to take a job at the company for which I'm being recruited. Hybrid versus the freedom to not go to an office at all? Hmmmm.

Love the snark here! Dear Humanware, Good god! How many emails do you need to send out to tell me that You'll be increasing your prices? And, since you're being "transparent" and all, how about you tell me what the prices will be for your products. I mean you do want to serve us poor folks *transparently!* Don't you? #accessibility #a11y

Your feedback is important. This year's survey includes questions about AI usage. This only took me a few minutes. WebAIM's Screen Reader User Survey is open now through August 31. If you are a screen reader user, your responses help shape more accessible digital experiences for everyone. I have mixed feelings about this. Apple quietly launches a catalog of #books narrated by #AI on its Books app, in a move that publishers, authors, and agents warn may upend the #audiobook market. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/jan/04/apple-artificial-intelligence-ai-audiobooks #Bookstodon

I’m excited to announce the first public release of Terminal Access for NVDA: an add-on focused on improving the NVDA experience when working in terminal/console applications. Inspired by TDSR and Speakup, there's quite a bit of functionality here. I welcome contributions. Issues and PRs welcome. Lots of testing needed. I posted this earlier. But, ... This thing is genuinely funny. Who needs The Onion? One example: "You are assassinating everyone with the authority to negotiate and then complaining, with what appears to be genuine bewilderment, that nobody will negotiate. This is the diplomatic equivalent of burning down every restaurant in town and then leaving a bad Yelp review about the lack of dining options." https://no01.substack.com/p/march-19-21-god-is-a-comedian
