I am freaking LOVING Siri AI. I’m doing a review of a new display from ViewSonic, and when I plugged it in and the Mac asked for permission, it showed a different model number than that of the display. The display is a VG1457, but the pop-up said LDR2001. I asked Siri AI to find a correlation between those models, and it came back in literally 1 second with the answer. It found the screenshot I’d taken in my notes (!) and told me everything I needed to know.

The Bird of Paradise flower is extraordinary, especially when light glows through it. It’s also incredibly difficult to photograph (well) because the depth of field gets tricky. I may have finally gotten my mic drop moment on this incredible flower. #BloomScrolling

@rosenz@mastodon.social today I was struggling with Spaces moving to the wrong display, and Claude sent me to your site for the answer on how to move them! Thought you'd like that. https://macmost.com/macs-with-two-displays-choose-windows-across-displays-or-separate-spaces.html FYI, a slight pause before dragging was required to move them from one display to the next.

@jamesthomson@mastodon.social That WAS my first thought when I heard about Liquid Glass. Not my 88-year-old mother-in-law, she’ll be just fine. But my 90-year-old father-in-law? This will put him over the edge.

We've got a brand new Elgato Stream Deck+ that takes 7 seconds to wake up after the Mac wakes up. We've swapped cables, moved the USB-C from a dock to direct into the Mac Studio, we've tried it on a different Mac, and we've uninstalled and reinstalled the Stream Deck app, but it's still 7 seconds. Looks like Elgato is going to give us a warranty repair, but do you have any other ideas on a way to fix this? #StreamDeck

I'm a big fan (and member) of @atpfm. They just did a member’s special where @siracusa, @caseyliss, and @marcoarment share development “nuggets of wisdom” from there shared years as programmers. There were tiny nuggets as well as broad ways of looking at development. I thought it was terrific. You can be a member for just one month for $8 to get this episode from April 14. I think it’s worth it! https://atp.fm/join #Programming

You can have self-control and wait till Sunday to listen, but the NosillaCast is out four days early thanks to @eddietonkoi, @spsheridan, and @bart! https://www.podfeet.com/blog/2026/03/nc-1090/ #20YearsOfPodcasting

In this very fun installment of Programming By Stealth, @bart teaches us how to use CSS “variables”, which aren't actually variables (they're custom properties). These non-variables allow you to take advantage of Bootstrap to style web pages, but make the look and feel all your own. Bart outdid himself on the shownotes, the examples, and the challenge looks super fun. https://pbs.bartificer.net/pbs182 #Programming #CSS

As we all watch the Orion crew make their incredible journey to the Moon, I couldn’t help thinking back to CES 2018 when @spsheridan had the incredible opportunity to interview NASA engineer Jared Daum. While the launch timeline might have been a bit optimistic, hearing him explain how Orion’s parachutes will guide the crew safely to splashdown is still a fascinating reminder of just how much brilliance goes into spaceflight. https://www.podfeet.com/blog/2018/01/ces-2018-orion-capsule/

Years ago I was walking Tesla in my neighborhood and met a lovely woman named Tilde who was tending her garden. Whenever possible I stopped by to chat with her. I was sad to learn from her daughter that she passed away during COVID. Her daughter explained the house was sold and asked me if we wanted some bulbs of her gorgeous pink flowers. @spsheridan planted them in our front yard and now we get to think of Tilde every year when the bulbs pop up and bloom. I’m so excited to have an automation to make perfect Featured Images for my blog posts and another one to remove that dratted alpha channel, all thanks to @flyingmeat. I'm off galavanting with the grandchildren, but thanks to Eddie Tonkoi teaching us about static site generator Hugo, and @bart explaining to me how he approaches AI from a privacy-first perspective, we've still got a great show. https://www.podfeet.com/blog/2025/11/nc-1071/ #ApplePodcast

We’ve got another great article by @eddietonkoi — this time on producing an audiobook. He takes us through the process, explaining each step where he can and confessing when he doesn’t know what a complex control does. Even if you don’t ever plan to record an audiobook, his process is still fascinating. I was especially intrigued by one tricky thing he does in not erasing flubs but rather silencing them, and why. https://www.podfeet.com/blog/2025/12/producing-an-audiobook-by-eddie-tonkoi/ #Aud...

In this installment of Programming By Stealth, @bart explains the history of how Podfeet.com has evolved over the last 20 years, from shared hosting to dedicated web and database servers, and the evolution from Apache as my web server to NGINX + PHP-FPM. Of course I knew a lot of this, but the PHP-FPM part was a complete mystery! https://pbs.bartificer.net/tidbit16 #SystemAdministration

This episode of #ProgrammingByStealth is a Tidbit written/taught by Helma van der Linden. @bart wanted to understand Docker better, and Helma has some great use cases for how to use it for developer setups, so it was a good opportunity for Bart to learn from Helma. The material is quite long, so the podcast was recorded in 2 segments, Tidbit 17a and b. Tidbit b will be along shortly, and picks up at the heading entitled "Reusing the Docker image". https://pbs.bartificer.net/t...

I couldn’t wait to hear the second half of Programming By Stealth Tidbit 17 with Helma van der Linden teaching @bart about #Docker, so I published it today. Helma takes things up a notch and teaches how to reuse the Docker image. Both audio files are available at the post now, but of course, you should subscribe to PBS in your podcatcher of choice https://pbs.bartificer.net/tidbit17#reusing-the-docker-image #Programming #Developers
