#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I had a long sleep. And then I’ve been drinking Gaivan Korean green tea all day – a Buddhist nun gave it to me and a friend brought it all the way from the other side of the world. 🌱 Fried patties made from brown and red lentils – basically like falafel – which I’m frying in a pan. They turned out well. 🌱 I’ve been doing nothing all day; I’m far too tired. I’m reading and watching a film – Next Sohee.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 When I got back from holiday, I found that my colleagues had covered my desk with dry leaves, put a sign saying ‘Welcome to the forest’ on my monitor, and hung up my photo everywhere, framed with chillies and bearing the caption ‘I’m on fire for a good cause’. I suppose they must like me 😆 🌱 I got to the library just before closing time, but I managed to borrow some good books. 🌱 Baked potatoes with onions and garlic at home. And hot bath.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 We managed to get the train to visit our daughter in the neighbouring county, despite power cuts and a delayed service. 🌱 A walk with the family, carrying our little grandson on my front in a baby carrier. 🌱 Lots of good food and a relaxing time.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I received tremendous support from the team. I never would have thought it was possible. I'm deeply moved. 🌱 Lots of work done - very tired, but a good feeling. 🌱 A shared Zen meditation practice, powerful chants, new people, a pleasant get-together over tea.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Visiting a former neighbour and fixing her light switch. 🌱 Sitting down and chatting with the family. 🌱 Praying together with my wife, because not everything is good and we have some concerns.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 A long lie-in this morning. A really long one. A rare treat. And then a nice cup of morning tea. 🌱 Rest, food, reading. Bean paste on bread. Dogwood berries pickled like olives from last year. 🌱 Sitting with my laptop and posting photos on Mastodon.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Picking cranberries for a meal and heather flowers for tea in the mountain forest, for my wife. 🌱 Saying goodbye to the log cabin in the mountains – we’ve had a lovely time here, and we’ll keep coming back as long as I’ve got the strength to climb the trail up to this height. No car can take me up here. 🌱 A long descent along the path down into the valley, where we can catch a bus. We managed everything comfortably and without rushing.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 In the inclement weather, we’re drinking tea in a mountain cabin and having a chat. 🌱 When the weather is better, we chop wood for heating in the mountain spruce forest. The dry trees will serve us and any other visitors well. 🌱 When the weather is lovely, we head up to the mountain ridge. We travel light, carrying only water, food and a change of clothes in case the weather changes. We leave our heavy kit in the log cabin.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Working together as a team to finalise the community document. I received recognition for my work. And then there was the community meeting with clients. 🌱 A small rice cooker arrived for my wife. 🌱 A meeting of the Mutual Support Network, where people from various community groups come together. Very encouraging.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 We’ve finalised a new draft of the community rules for homeless people. 🌱 We’ve got a new electric cooker. The old one was barely working and was causing power cuts. Our landlord bought a cheap Turkish model, but we’re really pleased with it. Nobody 🌱 I’ve mended a hiking boot. If I can sew, I’ll save loads of money.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 A meeting with clients at a community centre for homeless people, together with a colleague who’s just returned from holiday. 🌱 A group meditation session, which was also attended by some new people. 🌱 My back is starting to feel better; I even managed to sit through the meditation session.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 My colleagues have returned from their holidays, so the team is almost back to full strength. One of them hasn’t used her desk yet because whilst she was away I created a sand mandala on it. Apparently it’s too lovely to destroy. 🌱 A lovely first community meet-up at the new shelter for homeless women. 🌱 An event at the tea house: an introduction to Zen meditation for the public. Quite a few people turned up who were genuinely interested.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 A long lie-in this morning. It seems that more people with ADHD need a long time to get going in the morning. Whenever possible. 🌱 A walk and a rest in the marsh next to the village. It’s dry, but the marsh is very overgrown. When I sit on a tree stump in the thicket, there’s complete tranquillity. 🌱 We had a fault with the electrical wiring at home, but together with our landlord we managed to sort it out and we’ve got electricity again.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Delicious oolong in a small gaivan; I got the tea for my birthday. 🌱 My wife’s sister’s birthday party—I’m very tired, but I feel good. 🌱 I’m on call with a colleague who has an injured leg. Nothing’s happening, which is good. Any potential incident would be complicated.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Visiting the library, borrowing books. 🌱 Seeing my therapist. I’ve really missed that. 🌱 I’m making kimchi from napa cabbage grown by people in the community. Apparently, they had a bumper crop, and they’d heard of kimchi before. The mixture is almost entirely cabbage and garlic. And some dried chili peppers that are a few years old. That’s pretty much all I have.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Sleep and rest. That’s a rare treat for me, and I really appreciate it. 🌱 Mounting a large monitor – which I got from a friend (he’s a photographer and will probably get a better one soon) – onto a flexible arm. Good hardware for free. 🌱 Miso soup made from cabbage and garlic, followed by roasted courgette, Hokkaido pumpkin and potatoes, sprinkled with marjoram. It’s still in the oven.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Lunch and a fun afternoon with a group of homeless people who work in a cleanup crew. 🌱 A friend gave me a bigger monitor that he no longer needs. 🌱 Taking the train home from work instead of the bus—the train has air conditioning and even pulls into the platform a quarter of an hour early. We’re having extreme temperatures here, so choosing to wear loose Asian-style pants was a good call.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I took a day off work today. To relax. 🌱 Brown lentil dhal cooked by my wife, and who knows how manyth infusion of oolong tea I’ve had from the set I was given for my birthday. 🌱 An introduction to Zen meditation for the public, which we hold at the tea house every month. I’m the one who handles the welcome and the farewell. And in between, I act as a model when demonstrating the seated meditation posture. Some lovely people turned up.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I went to Mass at a Catholic church this morning. The Mass was said for my family. I was standing in for my wife. I had a lovely chat with the priest. 🌱 Homemade flatbreads. As well as wheat flour, I used peanut flour from food aid. Very tasty. 🌱 Sitting in the woods. I’m sitting under a tree, looking around, listening to the sounds, shooing away the mosquitoes.

I took this photo of a stonecrop flower in a hilly, wooded landscape, in the valley where we’ve now set up a community for homeless people. The stonecrops grow in the stone walls along the path. It’s wonderful that I can go there several times a week. When I drive there in the morning, there are sometimes still wisps of mist hanging over the woods. #nature #bloomscrolling #macrophoto

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I slept in this morning. But I didn’t feel like sleeping any longer, so I got up and had some bread, tofu and onion for breakfast. 🌱 I’m making a creamy Hokkaido pumpkin soup with a tofu dip to go with it. 🌱 I had a phone call with my daughter and then had a chat with my wife. I haven’t posted on Mastodon for a long time; it’s been a tough week and I’ve been very tired. I’m glad to be writing again.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 It rained yesterday and it’s raining today, too. We haven’t had a good rain here in many weeks. 🌱 A visit with my wife’s father and his family. 🌱 A bath with a teapot of green tea within reach. And a book.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 Spent the whole day with my family—my daughters and my grandson. The only things that can stop that little one are hunger or sleep. I remembered how to tie a baby sling in a cross-carry position, after twenty years. My grandson was happy in the sling. 🌱 A lot of online work done in a short amount of time. An ADHD skill. 🌱 Baked potatoes with zucchini, sprinkled with marjoram and oregano.

I took a photo of Lythrum salicaria by a stream while I was watering my guerrilla garden on my way home from work. It was Friday, and I was pretty exhausted. Taking photos is my anchor—in that moment, I pause and realize that I can stop. I also stop the flow of my thoughts and just take a photo. If it doesn’t turn out right, I take another one. I focus. That’s samadhi. It’s not hard; anyone can do it—the question is, for how long? #nature #macrophoto #bloomscrolling

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 At work today, it was really just the satisfaction of a job well done. I’m either giving updates, negotiating, or writing. And the news that we’ll be getting a bonus with our paycheck. 🌱 Boiled potatoes, roasted zucchini, and gochujang. 🌱 Taking photos of flowers on my bike ride home from work.

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 For the first time in a while, I have the energy to write something in the evening. 🌱 I wrote the community guidelines for people experiencing homelessness. We’ll be adding to and revising them as a team. 🌱 I cycled a lot of kilometers today in temperatures around 30°C, but I feel good.

#SilentSunday This year, for the first time, I waded across the river. The water was cold as you’d expect in the spring. Once my feet got used to it, I waded upstream along the gravel banks avoiding the deep spots. People don’t go there anymore; there are only animal tracks in the sand. A hornet flew by confidently navigating across the river. Several large animals passed through the forest along the bank; against the sun, I couldn’t tell what they were. They didn’t notice me. I love it. #nature

#3goodthinks #ThreeGoodThings Three good things today: 🌱 I started learning how to set up a remote connection between two computers running Debian. 🌱 Today, a walk in the floodplain forest, lots of flowers, with my work team. We walked around and chatted. It was nice there. I found out that getting tired people into the forest is easy. I just wrote it down in our work calendars as a meeting. 🌱 Made two kilos of hummus, half with red bell pepper.
