@Morning1 Yes, particularly for the larger, well-known instances like mastodon.social. This is based on personal experience of seeing web logs showing AI crawlers hitting individual posts and profiles on an instance I once managed infrastructure for. I’d recommend a mask for a selfie profile pic if you’re concerned but want to keep the profile relatively personal to you.

“The Department of Homeland Security […] said those who didn’t self-report could face fines or prosecution.” So… self-report and have the ICE gestapo come pick you up and prosecute you for sure, or don’t self-report and maybe stay off their radar? I’m sure they’ll get right on it. https://journa.host/@w7voa/114315756500723800

I do not advocate cyber bullying. Unless it’s done to the richest man on earth who has spent the last few years and tens of billions of dollars on setting up a platform specifically tailored to cyber bullies, including himself.

Trek just can’t get it through their thick skulls that these sixteen THOUSAND dollar bikes are a big part of why they’re teetering now. I’m relatively rich and I winced spending $2500 on a #bike. Ridiculous. #cycling #BikeTooter https://mastodon.social/@arstechnica/114319123667112390

While he’s still in a dire situation, words can’t express the relief that he’s still alive. And the absolute anger at my country that it was a serious possibility that he wasn’t. https://journa.host/@w7voa/114356317858544822

@action_jay Not sure how Canada’s laws work but probably notify the coworker privately as it appears to be a potentially actionable defamation situation.

@JugglingWithEggs There is some controversy from growing misinformation in the US as well. It’s becoming a more common refrain to hear that heat pumps will “stop heating and blow cold air when it gets below 40F outside” (4C). I’ve even heard this from an HVAC contractor. Big Oil is on the offensive.

@hetzner I want all the virtual data center tours! I’ve seen Falkenstein with the fancy passive cooling and was fascinated.

@carnage4life Oh I think I understand what you’re saying. I need to have many children so that $5,000 becomes $5,000,000!

Back on that Animal Crossing kick. New Horizons starts off kinda slow, I’m considering dusting off the old Japanese New Leaf 3DS instead.
