lol, my MastoAPI python bot that I started to work on over a year ago and forgot about doesn't even work anymore, because Python changed too much in the last year apparently. What a joke. If I ever decide to work on that again, I'll probably rewrite it in Ruby or something.

ngl, this vibecoding thing is kinda boring if you have nothing else to do. Write 3 sentences, wait 15+ minutes for something to pop out. Rinse and repeat.

Found another amazing "feature" of the ISP router I have. When WAN is down (like after a power loss), it redirects all DNS requests to its own LAN IP with a page saying that WAN is unreachable. Guess what happens when a Pi with a wireguard interface on it boots up after powerloss while WAN is still down, the Endpoint IP specified via DNS is the router's IP and nothing works.

Once you deal with taking care of computers for normies, all the BS Microsoft does to force down updates on users makes instantly sense. Automatic updates? No brainer, otherwise they will never install them. A limit on how far you can delay installing updates? Again, they will never get installed if you can just say "ask me later" all the time. Removal of Shutdown/Reboot without installing updates? They will never be applied even when they are scheduled to install.

>Our goal is to create what we currently call a "Automated Content Scanning FASP", to allow fediverse administrators to pick one (or multiple) services (running outside of the Mastodon software, could be a 3rd party, could be self-hosted) to scan the content going through their instance and emit recommendations or actions based on it. Centralized moderation and more government control coming to a :mastodont: server near you!

Tempted to write a "What is Fedi" blog post explaining how wanting to have builtin automated blocklists and "trust and safety" features won't fly with almost every Fedi server dev out there. So I can then send it to every post I see about users wanting this and get yelled at for being XYZ.

>Whereas Hewlett Packard Enterprise equipment, we're talking about stuff that cost $6,000, $8,000, $12,000 easily. And that's just for one piece of equipment, much less if you're buying something to set up a full network. >Someone buying these products can easily spend upwards of several hundred thousand dollars on a single installation.
