And then because I’m a glutton for punishment, I went back and watched the scene where blue lady dies, and they have the strange confusing battle again to see if I could make any more sense of it this time. Nope. #Monsterdon #JourneyToTheCenterOfTime

Wait! That was the end?! They just fucked off into time? We’ve had a lot of unsatisfying fucking off into [blank] on #Monsterdon, but man, that was a feeble ending. I prefer to think that movie ended with rich dude stuck in a time loop blowing himself up over and over again. #JourneyToTheCenterOfTime

  • View post

This is a terrible movie, but watching rich dude blow himself up was deeply satisfying. Literally worth watching this entire terrible movie for. #Monsterdon #JourneyToTheCenterOfTime

That future set was classic cheap 60s sci-fi work. A dark black set with nothing visible and one podium in a spotlight. I’m pretty sure about 1/3 of the Season Three episodes of original “Star Trek” used that approach. #Monsterdon #JourneyToTheCenterOfTime

LOL, I just found the official glassware of the “Sting of Death” dance party up for bids in a consignment auction. #Stripes #MoreStripes #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath #StingOfDeath1966 https://neilsdisco.hibid.com/lot/321390946/set-of-4-mcm-style-striped-highball-glasses?ref=catalog

RE: https://mastodon.social/@patioboater/117306398670403105 This younger and more naive toot brought to you by a man who had no idea we would eventually see Egon breeding *with* a jellyfish. Overall a pretty good #Monsterdon flick. Probably could’ve used more terrible dancing and more butts. They were its most redeeming features.

  • View post

Egon bred our monster, I assume. By my book that qualifies him to be listed as the lead mad scientist in this mess. #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath

Ironic that she’s going out to the boat to smoke a butt. I’m pretty sure jellyfish man is just trying to protect her from emphysema and lung cancer. #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath

It’s a terrible movie, but I cannot deny that I just danced “The Jella- Jella- Jellyfish” with my beagle. He’s a better dancer than most of this party. #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath

I’ve been a bit MIA from Mastodon for the last few days, but there’s a good reason. I bought a 1974 MGB GT V8 project from the father of a friend of mine. Aside from needing a good deal more work, there was a catch. The car was in Burnet, Texas. I live in Michigan. So me, my friend, and another friend are on a mission to run down to Texas to retrieve Gerald the GT and bring him back to Michigan. September 5, 2026. I was sorry to miss #Monsterdon tonight, since they had a genuinely good movie lined up tonight. But in my defense, I was distracted by this surprise sunset popping up on the western horizon even while we were under grey rain and clouds. August 9, 2026. I’m glad I finally got to see #HawkTheSlayer, though in retrospect I now realize I may have confused it with the better budgeted “Krull.” Still, it made for a worthy #Monsterdon flick. Even if the plot was lifted from somebody’s AD&D campaign, any movie with Jack Palance chewing scenery, random synth music soundtrack, and death by silly string isn’t all bad. I loved that it took itself seriously, but not ponderously. Great pick, everybody. Well done!

How is it that I’ve never watched this movie? Thank you, #Monsterdon, for giving me the chance to remedy this terrible oversight in my education! #HawkTheSlayer (We’ll see if I’m still grateful afterwards.)

Welp, that was a pretty good #Monsterdon flick, even if we fell short of a convincing massive pile of drowned giant locusts at the end. Both leads had genuine talent, the writing and effects were at least up to par for a 1957 giant radioactive grasshoppers movie, and it was a lot of fun overall. Thanks for the good time, everybody. Go forth and polygraph the giant insect of your choice. And always remember, playing excruciatingly loud music on your boat saves lives. #beginningoftheend

Man, loud music and a boat are going to save the world. Who knew that all those disco pontoon parties we had over the years were keeping America safe from giant ravenous grasshoppers? #Monsterdon #beginningoftheend

I might get tempted into #Monsterdon tonight, “Beginning of the End” (1957). Giant grasshoppers seems like prime #Monsterdon fodder. It’ll probably depend on how tempting tonight’s sunset is, and whether it keeps me out there until too long after the start. Literally deciding between the sublime and the ridiculous.
