RE: https://flipboard.com/@wired/gear-gadgets-4ufq7vtvz/-/a-tIsMKCU9QZmPoYjjc1osDA%3Aa%3A3199480-%2F0 I normally check my books and ebooks out from the library. Bought an ePub file from Kobo today instead of from Amazon. It's not DRM free. But it's pretty trivial to de-DRM an ePub file compared to Amazon. 📚 🛒 #RightToOwn #FULU #Calibre #DRM

I defy you to listen to this song for the Japanese dollar store Daiso and not let its charms improve your mood. 🇯🇵 🛒 It comes on in the store like every 20 minutes and I'm powerless under its uber positivity. I've actually talked to the clerks there about it and they agreed. They clued me in to the fact that it's available online as well. The RAMpocalyspse is certainly making the job of Linux evangelist easier these days. A good friend has a business and needed a computer for the office but was shocked by the retail prices now. He knows that I rehabilitate old PCs and asked if I had any spares. So I set him up with a MintBook Air from 2012. He's stoked. 💚 It's his first experience with Linux & I can't wait to get his feedback. 💻️ @linuxmint@mastodon.social #RAMpocalypse #AI #Linux #RAMOn

I have especially enjoyed these last few weeks of the Late Show. I know Colbert will be fine. But network TV will never be the same 📺 What Do We Lose When ‘The Late Show’ Goes Away? Our attachment to an institution may seem counterintuitive, especially w/ comedy, a rebellious art form. But with Stephen Colbert’s program, there was a lot at stake. The future of late-night will look more like a video podcast, and it’s hard to imagine the big-show aspect returning https://www.nytimes.com/2026/...

I.M. Pei on City Hall and preservation. "I am unhappy about the fact that our society seems to be much more inclined to build something for a short time and then tear them down. I think this self-disposable society of ours is not conducive to doing good architecture, and this I am unhappy about. Why is Paris so beautiful? Because the buildings were well-built, were built to last. That’s the difference. And we don’t, and this I regret.” https://www.dmagazine.com/micropost/i-m-pei-on-ci...
