For PHP dev work I have switched to Lerd (from Valet) on my demo laptop (along with macOS 27). I’d love to hear others thoughts if they are or were Valet users and have switched or tried Lerd. My initial thoughts are: Interesting, seems mostly seamless, fairly lightweight, love the dashboard and ease of editing php and other settings. #laravel #valet #lerd #php

Any folks here with experience upgrading their Android tablet to Linux? I am in the market for a smallish tablet. I've always bought into the Apple ecosystem for devices, and am Debian/Ubuntu Linux all the way for servers. Given the nut-so pricing of Apples tablets, it is time to look at alternatives. #android #linux #tablet #ipad

I am curious how the new Laravel package-skeleton compares to Spatie’s? I’ve not dug into either at this time, it I have used the spatie https://github.com/laravel/package-skeleton https://github.com/spatie/package-skeleton-laravel There appears to be some code cross over? #php #laravel

Boy oh boy this buy in Canada thing is tough. Neal Brothers foods, wonderful stuff right? Guess what, they moved production of all their chips to the USA. It may be wrong to say but fuck them, i can in today’s political climate support that behaviour. #glovesOff #boycottUSA #elbowsUp

First time out black cherry tree has managed to get the berries this far. Typically birds and squirrels have ravaged the tree by now. Our fluffy little miniature schnauzer is earning his keep this year! I may attempt some wild black cherry jelly later today. #gardening #trees

A few days ago I left one of my Thinkcentre M910Q boxes sitting on top of my rack. It’ll be fine there until I install it. Out of the way… today in a rush to get to my physio appointment my shirt caught the box and sent it flying onto my TrueNAS. Remember folks, if you think at the time, “it’ll be safe, such and such can’t happen,” that is your future self whispering in your ear to NOT DO THAT! #homelab #doh

I’ve seen several positive stories in the news lately, getting mentioned here on mastodon. People who comment on these, you really don’t need to find some negative comparison or element of the story and make a post about that. You can just be happy something good is happening. Really, be happy and leave it that. #dontWorry #beHappy

After the Quebec ice storm we carefully selected an affordable and reputable contractor to build a replacement garage. It had 2 windows, one size X and one size X+2”. We watch the contractors put the first window X in opening X+2”, it fit with extra shims. Then we watched for 15 minutes as they tried to put X+2” into opening X. Finally they confidently stated “you bought the wrong size windows”, to which we replied “or, you put them in the wrong openings.” Hiring contractors is tough.

Looking for Canadian cereal. Must be Canadian sourced ingredients. Any suggestions? Looking for things like Raisin Bran, vector type dry cereals. In Holland they have a great subscription based granola type serial. Reasonably priced too. Either in store on online is fine for our needs. #elbowsUp #buyCanadian

Ordered a shelf for the server rack online. It made it to the first sorting facility and was returned due to extensive damage. I've now discovered a Montreal company that manufactures and sells shelving for less. https://sysracks.ca/ #homeLab #buyCanadian

I used to love playing Machinarium. If you played and enjoyed it, three is a new (to me) game from the same developer called Creaks, and it is on sale today on Steam for 85% off - $3.89. Oh and Machinarium is also 80% off, for only $5.19. #machinarium #steam

Please watch and pass along. It is important that our American neighbours learn what is really going on, and not what their government states. And yeah, probably not many Americans on here, but more exposure is important. #elbowsUp #forestFires https://hci.social/@tod/116943227218546288

We read that Que Pasa chips in Quebec were selling bags marked “Made in the USA”. Surprising since this is a Canadian company. We wrote Nature’s Best, and heard back that yes, they make some products in both countries, but to sell in those countries. They didn’t say anything about why they are selling USA made Nacho Chips in Canada. I have since replied that until we see Made in Canada bags, we will be buying either La Cocina or Neal Brothers Nacho chips. #elbowsUp #boycottUSA #naturesBest

Videotron cable: 1Gbps/50Mbps. Bell Canada: 3Gbps/3Gbps, ~ same price. 23 years with Videotron (left Bell after bad experience), thought it worth trying Bell for a month. Our address changed to a nonexistent address on the checkout page. Online support: ‘that’s bad, I’ll place the order for you’. Ask to see the contract and final order before I agree, they say no, assuring me: It is correct. I declined Last message from support is a doozy! We are staying with Videotron #bell #videotron #ISP
