Guess who is lying here? Organic Maps binary files are free and have always been free. The license only requires proper attribution, in the same way that using Wikipedia or OpenStreetMap.org data requires proper attribution.

Last night Organic Maps was removed from the Play Store without any warnings or additional details due to "not meeting the requirements for the Family Program". Compared to Google Maps and other maps apps rated for 3+ age, there are no ads or in-app purchases, and no user information is collected in Organic Maps. We have asked for an appeal. As a temporary workaround you can install the upcoming Google Play update from this link: https://cdn.organicmaps.app/apk/OrganicMaps-240...

Hikers want to know how much they'll climb, everyone wants their search address to just work, and no one should feel like they're falling off the edge of the map. Thanks to our contributors, your good reviews, donations, and support, we've tackled all three — and a whole lot more in the April release or the app: https://organicmaps.app/news/2026-04-07/hiking-cycling-routes-elevation-charts-us-address-search-antimeridian-map-wrapping-april-2026-organic-maps-update/ With...

For almost two years, users searching for Organic Maps on F-Droid have been unable to install the app due to a bug (or due to someone's deliberate choice?). Many users have reported this issue to us. They do not understand why it happens. The bug is still there, and F-Droid maintainers don't care: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidclient/-/work_items/2850

One of our maintainers and core contributors (Alexander @biodranik) met with Brewster Kahle, the founder of the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/), at a recent conference in Lisbon, where Kahle is looking for patrons/partners who may help with storing European Internet Archive data on European servers. Please contact him if you are interested in helping. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewster_Kahle
