    I tried to work out what I want in a Linux distribution. I think the desire for stable releases with security support rules out a lot of the smaller options, but perhaps I'm missing something I should look at, if I do decide I'm moving away from Debian? https://www.earth.li/~noodles/blog/2026/08/what-do-i-want-distro.html

    I was reminded today that I have found very, very few conferences I am personally prepared to spend much on a ticket for. I tend to find I get more out of the grassroots community events that aren't high cost, but perhaps I'm missing out on something?

    All I want is a low resource usage Android app that let's me stream audio to it from a Linux server. Bonus points if it doesn't have to be raw PCM. (This in the context of a Home Assistant dashboard device that I'd like to be able to play music on too, but control completely remotely.)

    Do modern UEFI firmwares end up shadowed in system RAM, like classic BIOS in the olden days? I've seen some suggestion they are, but nothing authoritative.
