Putting some Metal in Longplay... without the noise.

Randomly came across Kin-dza-dza the other day: a 40-year-old Russian sci-fi cult classic that I never heard about before. It's a bit like Monty Python on Arrakis and makes me wish someone turned Bob Sheckley's Dimension of Miracles into a movie.

Getting Longplay to work on iPhone Duo is quite some work as its iOS UI is all custom. It's fun though and invites to stretch the HIG recommendations a bit.

Haven't been keeping up much with #WWDC build-up so far, but are there no one-on-one virtual tech labs this year? That was the best part. What a bummer.

Took a glance at my menu bar and thought "why do I have a Netscape icon"?

@decryption Pivot to calling this $1/day OpenClaw pounds, post it on X and you should be set.

@phiali Yeah, luckily everything still seems to be in working order, though I haven't yet tried charging my phone. My mechanical keyboard is still fully functional and ended up a tad bit cleaner than I started the day (though with a new scent).

The new App Store Connect is laughably bad if you have a paid upfront app with a tip jar. You get the most detailed insights into the abyssal performance of your tip jar, and barely anything about the upfront payment.

@simonbs I wonder if there was much less backlash against LLMs if they were a commons and fully open rather than proprietary with massive commercial motives.

Note to self: Next time you make a trip to Melbourne for a few days, check the forecast instead of assuming you get stable summery weather like in Sydney. Lovely people here as usual though.

Folks, happy Monday morning. I hope yours is starting off better than mine. I just dropped my phone into my coffee mug, spilling the coffee all over my keyboard.

I am loving the hobby aspects of building Longplay lately. Exploring way too many fun and nerdy side alleys that are resulting from a new capability that I’m added. Time to draw a boundary around it and ship it though, as I’m very excited to share that.

In anticipation of my Pebble Round 2, I made a retro watch face for Longplay. This is so much fun and makes me much more excited about it than my Apple Watch, which is just a workout tracker these days. May can't come soon enough.
