Our ship broadcasts an open wifi network called Immortality, it serves a single html page that contains Clare Harner's poem to anyone curious enough to try connecting to it. I've changed it a bit so that the LED lights up whenever someone connects. https://paste.sr.ht/~rabbits/5ad277ab8760e3fd08adf5097cf64ea287c34f83 cc @leaflitter@merveilles.town

It's typical of #conlang projects to have a translation of the Lord's Prayer as a showcase template of the language. But I didn't want that, for some reason, I had in my head to do this one instead. http://wiki.xxiivv.com/site/latin_sin_flexion.html

After making the Polycat platformer game last year, Rek and I are teaming up again and trying something a little less twitch for Catjam 2026. We're making an interactive vignette based on Rek's Spines & Pincers universe. The intersection of #occ2026 and #Catjam2026 happening in the summer is just so perfect for us, concatenative programming languages, computers running off solar, tiny games, tiny builds, tons of drawing, walks in the wood to jam about what to put in it? The timing c...

You have one of these morbid friends who wear only black, write only in Forth and that modern times have all but left behind to linger undead among the coaxial cables. They're inviting you. Dead languages, dead systems, aren't these just infinitely precious, once you see how the ideas that survive are never the interesting ones, merely those with the most capital behind them. Doesn't that just make the graveyard suddenly burst with life and reveal the modern computing landscape for...

For the past year, we've tracked all finances for Hundred Rabbits using a bespoke spreadsheet program that's only 9kb(no it's not a webapp). I was scratching my head wondering how we could link sheets with each other so that we could jump between them, I realized that a spreadsheet itself is just fine as a file browser if you can open the strings as paths. Obviously it looks super weird if I try to open a markdown file as a tsv..

It's #Catjam again in less month!! If you've been putting off giving Forth a try, now's your chance, come hang with others as we make little digital toys in languages that feels like weaving, looks like a braids and tastes like fenugrek. https://itch.io/jam/catjam-2026 * If discord is not your thing, it certainly isn't mine, come hang in the #uxn room on libera, we welcome all postfix minded folks.

I thought, how different it would be to be old. I had this idea in my head when I was young that I'd be going through life by moving between things, that interests would roll off of me and that which was once novel would have to make space for some other new thing. But it's not at all what happened. I'm about 15, and I come across this list of blue monospaced links. At that moment, I have no inclination toward... anything really, I'm a teen, videogames are like m...

Two purple martins joined us for storytime last night, as @rek was reading passages from Huxley's Island, they landed on the rope and stayed for a while, I took the photo from the bed just looking up through the window above my head.

It's really nice to know that we can buy parts compatible with a 45 years old furler. This is a new fitting connected to the original socket, I realize that thread sizes have standardized a long time ago, but still, aren't we fortunate to live in such a world that these don't change every 5 years..

"Attention!", shouts a mynah. I am not too proud to say I'm wrong when I am, so there, I was, I'll admit it. Against my most cynical reserves, television did turn out to be the university in every home that it promised, and the telephone also did end loneliness. It worked best of all once we turned it off, went next door, and invited our neighbors over to teach us stuff. Someone always brought food. Hunger, unsurprisingly, was also just a logistics problem, an...

Andrew Gibson(adventuresin9)'s talk yesterday at #iwp9 about file systems gave me so many ideas, but one thing that struck me was his highlighting BeOS' metadata. It makes it possible to use files as contacts, recipes, playlists, anything really and view these tags in the file manager. IT'S SO COOL, I want to build that for myself now.

Back in January, I received a message asking something like: "How did the permacomputers predict-?" I forget which self-inflicted calamity it was referring to, but the question has stayed with me. I don't think #permacomputing is about predicting anything, especially not collapse. The idea driving it is based on a simpler observation: our culture will either figure out how to live sustainably, or it won't. Daniel Quinn put it like this: "If there are s...
