Just checked out meshcore again after a bit more than a year. They "fixed" the one main thing that I predicted will be closely coupled to adoption. There now is an easily accessible "main public channel" chatroom feature - the thing in meshtastic that delivered that feeling of instant success and cb-radio vibe. At the same time the robustness of the protocol still is there. In other words: There is no reason to keep bothering with meshtastic or suggesting it to newcomers.

"…knowing how many students now rely solely on artificial intelligence for their answers, he secretly embedded instructions telling the AI to include information about Madagascar in a way that makes no sense. Being written in white text meant the instructions were invisible. Sure enough, 32 out of the 35 students across two classes simply copied the question, pasted it into a chatbot, then copy and pasted its output into the answer window." [without bothering to check] https:/...

This turned out to be surprisingly interesting. The asianometry yt is always is worth a watch but this one stands out. It's about the history of japanese porcelain manufacturing and what toilets have in common with semiconductors. I never knew that noritake, maker of the plates I use daily, was connected the famous washlet maker toto, whose products I also have in my home. TIL: Toto at one time even did a proctometric survey of their employees. So much detail. 👌 https://www.youtube.com/watch...

@jolla@techhub.social @cybette@mastodon.org.uk This community aspect is one of the things that truly sets Jolla apart. You listen. Back in the days, after some discussion I even had a 1on1 session with Marc himself - something from which we both took inspiration home. Over the years I participated in at least two meetups in different cities where users and the team could share ideas. That is very much not the case for any other phone I ever owned. Oh, and the new form factor does indeed look in...

This is fine... "We observed that participants who had access to the AI assistant were more likely to introduce security vulnerabilities for the majority of programming tasks, yet were also more likely to rate their insecure answers as secure compared to those in our control group." https://arxiv.org/abs/2211.03622

Heute wars dann so weit… Nice! 👌

This “AI” “revolution” is going great. People are handing remote-code-execution-tools, that pull in insecure instructions by default, their full corporate credentials. By the millions. I find it hard to call that a backdoor - it’s a front door. https://brightbean.xyz/blog/mcp-backdoor-zero-trust-architecture-security/
