I would like to have a section in our EULA about what we promise to deliver, and struggle to quantify what is expected from a font file beyond following the OpenType spec. Wordings like "according to contemporary/current standards" seems very vague. Can you point to good examples of type foundry EULAs that address this?

@tphinney Speaking of amoral activities: the fact that you sit on the board of @atypi which allows a representative of ParaType to speak at the 2026 conference is, quite frankly, appalling.

Hey! The launch party has morphed into a launch festival: Our friends at Papa Borracho are hosting the after party, with dj contributions from sound artist Alexander Rishaug, Dj Poplove (of Perfect Pop fame), Fri ortografi & letterpress-printer Dj 12 Cicero. Doors open at Cappelens Forslag 1800 hrs, with a smörgåsbord of nerdyness.

Gorgeous example of Northern Sámi writing by Lars Jacobsen Hætta, 1863. The accented mark that eventually morphed into the caron was, from the start, something completely different. The second image shows Jens Andreas Friis’ spelling, which he developed in collaboration with – or informed by? (I haven’t yet gone in to the full story) – Hætta during Hætta’s imprisonment in Oslo for his role in the Kautokeino riots.

Today is a great day to join a union. Might not be the most obvious thing for a solo designer, but it can be a first step away from the neo-liberal impulses that define contemporary graphic design – such as chasing autonomy and peer recognition, and conflating your personal worth with financial success. Important lesson for type and graphic designers from the liner notes of composer Ahmed Essyad: “[He] supported North African popular forms of expression and opposed its folklorizing through simplistic and ‘exotic’ representations (...) the real point is to open up an imaginary space where another modernity can exist outside the largely Eurocentric framework [...]”

Planning an outing to Amsterdam > Haag > Antwerp in the start of May. If you have any suggestions for record stores (digging for highlife, soukous from ~56–78, 80s–90s indie, shoegaze, some neo-classical, and whatever obscure gems I come across), they are most welcome!
