A year ago I made Wellness Ping because someone I care about went silent and it took too long for anyone to notice. v2.0 is now out. It now works entirely over Signal, usernames or phone numbers, both for your check-ins and for your emergency contacts. Email isn't safe for everyone to use, but it's still there. Three new security modules, all optional, stack as many as you want: PIN, authenticator 2FA, and passkeys. The PIN has a duress option. Enter that one instead and your contact...

I was actually working on another app for myself where you open an eBook (.epub) and then can also open an audio book, and it uses a speech-to-text (fully offline and locally duh) to sync the text and the audio, and it highlights it karaoke style. and cuz of that you don't need to scroll and I found it sooo much easier to focus on the text, and when I do get distracted for a moment, I don't actually lose my spot I used this for 3 hours straight on my flight 😁 I luv it (do let me know...

LocalMathy is now on F-Droid!! :D https://f-droid.org/packages/dev.micr0.localmathy/ for everyone who missed the first post: it's a math tutor that lives entirely on your phone. fully offline, with no account and no api, where nothing gets sent anywhere. now built from source and signed by f-droid!! so you don't even have to even trust me type out a problem, or snap a photo of it, and it walks you through solving it step by step. it's mainly a tutor, not an answer machine, the who...

Not everyone has someone to ask when they're stuck on their homework at 2am. I wanted to fix that, a math tutor that lives on your phone, works fully offline, and doesn't send your kid's schoolwork to anyone. So I made LocalMathy! (My first mobile app, Android, iOS coming soon) You get step-by-step help working through a typed out math problem. Or snap a photo of it if typing it out is annoying. Its a small reasoning model that runs entirely on-device (about 2.1GB) because privacy...

hi peeps <3 Running a small fundraiser to keep altbot and fuzzies.wtf alive and healthy! my server storage hit 100% full and took down basically everything. i got it fixed, but it's clear i need more drives before it happens again. altbot is free, open source, and runs 24/7 generating alt text for anyone on the fediverse who needs it. it's real accessibility infrastructure and i want to keep free. goal is $500 for a set of used (and tested for good health) enterprise drives off...

altbot v2.5 is out! fixed non-english support! switched to a two model setup: gemma3:1b handles translations while qwen3-vl does the image processing stuff. gemma3:1b is surprisingly good at translations for such a tiny model?? now running 23.7gb out of 24gb vram on my server, but everything stays hot and loaded so no cold start penalty (which would have been very bad for power usage especially) also pixelfed should work again since thes gdpr update (hopefully?? i don't have an account t...

Hi so, i've been putting this off for a bit but i think i need to say something about it i run a bunch of stuff for free,, altbot, fuzzies.wtf, wellness-p.ing, ventboard.site and a few other things. mostly i just quietly covered the costs of whatever the donations couldn't, using my own money. that was fine especially when i lived at home. i moved to uni. now the gap kinda comes out of my food budget. which... is not ideal.. server and infrastructure costs run me $165/mo. donations...

I made a thing called Wellness Ping because someone I care about went silent and it took too long for anyone to notice. You get regular check-ins via email. If you don't respond, your emergency contacts get notified. Built it for anyone who might go missing and needs someone to notice: activists, journalists, researchers, solo folks. I paid for premium hosting (high-reliability VPS in Sweden) and a quality email provider because uptime actually matters for something like this. Also paying...
