Been a while since I was last this stumped by a networking issue. When it’s not DNS it’s MTU? Maybe? Ping works. Normal-sized packets work fine, but most connections hang during SSL handshake. Behavior seems classic of an MTU issue, but then also not. Dreading trying to explain that my PPPoE session appears broken to the Bell customer support people.

As long as we’re age-gating social media, I really think we need to do something to protect the boomers from whatever the fuck Facebook has become.

“Today I can finally say the sweetest nine or 10 words in the English language: Global Tetrahedron has completed its plan to control InfoWars.” #TheOnion is victorious in their takeover bid for #InfoWars and I can’t wait to see what they get up to with it. 😄 https://theonion.info/?mc_cid=f6c8613285&mc_eid=2194386898

Online life is so weird right now. Push notification from the NYT and my stress response spikes. What fresh outrage has occurred? What critical news is breaking? What did that demented orange goblin get up to in the past hour? Is WWIII underway?! Oh, the *79 year old* guitarist from the band *Traffic* has passed. Very sad. Carry on.

"But between February and March, the world didn’t just tighten its fossil fuel use; it spent money on new green stuff. China’s solar, battery and E.V. exports grew 39 percent. The country’s solar exports alone more than doubled during that time. In South Korea, March saw new E.V. registrations double compared with the same time last year. In New Zealand, new registrations nearly doubled over two weeks." Some space for hope, yet. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/22/opinion/iran...

"Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside, you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing. You must wake up with sorrow. You must speak to it till your voice catches the thread of all sorrows and you see the size of the cloth." From Kindness by Naomi Shihab Nye https://www.yourdailypoem.com/listpoem.jsp?poem_id=1218

RE: https://mas.to/@Aubreader/116330793703168577 Apple went a long distance before developers started to understand that they could be “Sherlocked” at any moment. For Bluesky, this does seem early, but that $100mil ain’t going to return itself.

@pluralistic you fly a bunch and you have a clear sense of the causes of the climate crisis. Do you have a preferred carbon offset approach for your personal/professional travel or nah?

Said goodbye to this very good girl this evening. I am so glad that she was part of our family these past nine years, and I will miss her so much. Give your furry family a hug for me. #dogsofmastodon

RE: https://mastodon.online/@spocko/116263221692727399 I recall there were similar anti-Trudeau stickers on Canadian pumps not too long ago.. And look where Trudeau is now. Who is Trump’s Katy Perry and how quickly can we ship them?
