Whoa just had a major flashback and ended a text convo with Keillor’s “And that’s the news from Lake Woebegone, where the women are tall, the men are good looking and the children are above average” 😵‍💫

I bought a nice merino cardigan off of eBay and the seller did not disclose that it came from a smoking household. Does anyone have any good suggestions for getting the cigarette smell out? I'd like to avoid laundering it if at all possible, but that may be the final answer. #laundry

Usually when someone is blasting music in the parking lot at this hour it’s really bad but someone is currently playing Mingus at full volume and I’m curiously down with this.

I can’t tell how I feel about Nigella in this show but I really want someone who won’t put up with Hollywood’s guff.

I thought I made a mistake buying broccolini instead of broccoli rabe, but it turns out if you just drown it in butter it hardly matters.

Maybe if acclaimed Hollywood film director Christopher Nolan himself communicates what is wrong with tvtropes as a manner of critique the first-year students who drive me up the wall with this false equivalency will figure it out. I have faith. https://deadline.com/2026/08/christopher-nolan-real-problem-amateur-film-criticism-1237015553/

Just thought I'd give Resident Evil a shot and I'm finding the real horror of this game is the entire early PS1 days controller scheme. What do you mean the controls are forward backwards spin spin?!

@germ@deletethis.lol look germ the alternative is two hours of mundane mediocre fetch quests in order to advance one plot point interspersed with 30 second unskippable cutscenes you’ll be slamming a button on constantly and impotently because the realm was reborn~

Watching a 30 for 30 episode about Joey Chestnut v. Kobayashi Takeru and it's a reminder that I still can't passively listen to Japanese as well as I'd like but I can completely zone out for the English stuff and stay on top of the narrative flow

I don't have an objection to the character or the character being on the show per se but does the Farragut ever complain that Kirk spends all his time not being on the Farragut? Does the Farragut have no adventures of its own?

Defrosting the fridge is so much fun! We should do it every year! Said absolutely no one ever. Here's hoping that it solved the fan noise issue, but not an experience I would repeat again.

I really wanted You're Killing Me to follow along in the vein of Harry Wild and continue to solidify Acorn as the new home of this type of light mystery show, but the pilot is a hefty slog. If I hear one more generational humor joke…

He has the privilege of a sizable canvas upon which to enact his platform, and it's probably fair to also look to other less well funded or PR-savvy politicians and what they're doing as well. But man what I wouldn't give for him to be my mayor. https://apnews.com/article/mamdani-nyc-grocery-stores-prices-bronx-4634d4030209fea663e68f5d6d09a325

I imagine it's difficult not to do given what Axios’ format is, but I'd really like them and frankly all media outlets to stop taking “centrist" Democratic talking points at face value. Letting Gottheimer just mouth off that DSA rhetoric is "anti-American” without qualifying that is no better than what Republicans say about the entirety of the Democratic party. Talk about cutting off your hand to spite your face. https://www.axios.com/2026/07/27/2026-midterm-democrats-socialis...
