DEI for me, not for thee. “Removing DEI” is just code for “shifting DEI to white cishet Christian men”. They’ll *call* it a meritocracy to make themselves feel better. But it’s just DEI aimed at white men.

As an American, I think about this graph *way* too often: ![](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/pictrs/image/8bb1d8ef-bcea-4f7c-bf2d-0afd3babf66a.webp) Basically, yeah. Ideally, as public support rises, the pass rate would also rise. And inversely, as support drops, the pass rate would also drop. That flat ~30% pass rate *regardless of public support* means that the bottom 90% literally isn’t represented at all. Their needs and wishes literally are not factored into the bill’s chances of passing ***a...

You can 100% still buy them. They’re just prohibitively expensive for the average person. Business/commercial TV displays don’t require Internet connection. They’re often used for things like digital signage, corporate meeting rooms, etc… But they’re going to be like 2-3x the cost of a consumer-level TV. Because the price of modern consumer-level TVs is *heavily* subsidized by the fact that the company is planning on selling your data. As a bonus, lots of commercial TVs have quality-of-life thi...

I was a freelancer for about a decade, and only ever walked off of _one_ job site. It was because of safety concerns and one asshole. I was a stagehand, setting up lighting, decking, and audio gear for a musical in a local megachurch. I was in charge of a crew for this job, through a local labor company; Church hired the company to provide labor, who hired me as a subcontractor to make sure things went well, track workers’ time, etc... The load in was set to last three days, with them rehearsing...

Are you a registered republican, or live in a conservative area? I’m registered R so I can vote for the least crazy candidate in their primaries. Because a democrat has basically zero chance of winning the general election in my district. And I get the MAGA bait too.

The Turbo button actually *slowed down* your processor for backwards compatibility reasons. Older software was expecting the CPU clock to be below a certain threshold, and would crash (or run way too fast) if the clock was too fast. Sort of like old games tying the physics to the framerate, then the physics gets all weird when the frame rate changes. The Turbo button was a way to boot old programs without needing to dig into your BIOS to downclock the CPU manually. Old games were especially bad...

That’s a shame, because KH2 is pretty widely regarded as the best in the series. If you stopped with Chain of Memories, I wouldn’t blame you. The gameplay for that one is definitely… Uhh… Divisive. But KH2 was when the series really hit its stride.

    > Tired of those annoying cookie banners? They’re not just frustrating—they're a lazy response to GDPR. They’re not *lazy*, they’re *maliciously compliant*. The sites *know* how to comply with GDPR, but wanted to throw a fit instead. So they came up with the annoying cookie banners, to make users hate GDPR instead of hating the sites that were stealing and selling all of their data. And the worst part is that it worked. Many people wholly equate GDPR with the cookie banners, instead of t...
