Stacked PR management is the first new GitHub feature I've been excited about in ages. I was just doing some maintenance on a client site whose repo is on their (large) organization and I guess they're in the preview. It's so good! https://github.github.com/gh-stack/

Picked up the last available $499 Mac Mini to upgrade my home file/backup server which was made nine years ago and has been running (for me) 24/7 for three and a half years.

Day spent doing extremely deep dives into actual bugs of plugins with augmented analysis of vendor code. The kind of thing I would have thrown into a vague github issue never-to-be-fixed. Wild times.

It’s 1am but after like 9… years… of a broken Wordpress and an incomplete static archive… I got https://www.womeninclothes.com/ back up and running locally on current Wordpress (classic editor of course!) with a static generator pipeline and a deploy system and missing content restored.

Just did eight hours of site restoring after a 10 hour work day. That was two more Kirby site upgrades and one big old Wordpress to static.

Claude Code deleted the project’s Claude.md and/or was in a worktree and stopped looking for one in the main branch and I went in circles for three hours while it completely forgot everything about Kirby, rsync, htaccess, and backstop but was convincingly lying that it was doing things.

I am so happy to have finally finished reading all the Philip K Dick stories and not need to think about them for another 25 years. 1973-1981 were deeply offputting.

RE: https://hachyderm.io/@evacide/116326955898338960 Hoping this isn’t April Fools. I sent Apple Feedback this week that this would be my last iPhone because of their policy not to patch iOS devices that *could* run 26 but aren’t. https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone/

Not a joke. iOS 18 update for newer devices. Temporarily turn off “iOS 18 Beta Channel” if you were using that to block iOS 26 nags

In one day, Claude Code got through three years’ of TODOs on two Kirby sites concurrently: upgrading from 3 -> 4 with functional deploy systems, rsync backups, Vagrant-> ddev, long-ago compiled Sass -> working Vite builds, functional RSS feeds, lightweight site search, fixes for terrible YAML mistakes Cursor made last fall, and a plan for 4->5.

This week I paired synchronously with a skilled coworker while he worked through a complex Azure upgrade using Claude Code for a site we’re taking from Craft 3 -> 5. I did the XP big picture pairing work of rubber ducking and watching for hallucinations and he did the high skill work with deep institutional and practical knowledge of working through the steps. It worked. We un-silo’d from the all too common pattern of a dev and Claude going down wrong paths. Pairing is as good as ever...

I’m not bragging and I’m not complaining. The junior dev pipeline is broken and tech turned its back on diversity and the tools are killing the earth. I know. The code of Claude Code is spaghetti and they are burning money. Fix your build systems while you can. 🫠
