    There is a correct solution to the trolley problem. It is this: you design the system with positive train control. You make it so the trolley cannot enter a section where there are people, and you make it so the trolley can be stopped quickly if something goes wrong. I&#39;ve been told that this is cheating, a cop-out, or avoiding the &quot;interesting&quot; aspects of the question. I don&#39;t think it is.     Job news! Starting this week I’m switching back to an individual contributor role to work on Lightwell. (https://www.redhat.com/en/lightwell) Still working to figure out the shape of the new job, but the essence is: we intend to make this good for upstreams. Not as a “way to give back” or mere marketing claims, but because that’s the only way this works long-term. I’m going to help make that intention into fact.
