RE: https://mastodon.social/@VeroniqueB99/117350705695921986 Belgian student is a dumbass. Gold is easy to melt and completely untraceable once melted. Sure, it'd take a long time to convert it to cash covertly but it's never making it back to its rightful owners, just some rich people's pockets. Or maybe the govt. to whom it's barely a rounding error.

The guy who wrote Wool put together a #writing app for himself. It's a really nice balance of minimalism, with a collection of really nice features. I'd bet good money it's AI written, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a nice tool to use. Video overview here. https://youtu.be/_K-ExOiEv40?si=JzozmeS7CrGYQ005&t=125 🧵1/5

Just realized I was hearing cicadas buzzing in our trees. Nice to hear them again. Not many though. Maybe just 1 or 2 got confused about when to wake up. Maybe early risers and more will come soon.

Trying to edit. Can't stay focused. Remembered I haven't been medicated for months. First because you can't combine adderall with oxycodone. Then because extracting contents from caplets to mix with liquid and syringe into my system is a pain in the ass, and because you shouldn't do that with extended release pills 😮‍💨😢

#VRChat is an interesting counter-argument with regards to age verification. Unlike most sites & games, a *lot* of :vrc: users had been actively petitioning the them to add verification for years. Now that we have it, I don't think it goes far enough. Being able to restrict a world to users aged 18+ is great, but I'm over 50. I don't generally *want* to hang out with 18yr olds or even most twenty-something's. We're just at radically different sta...

This is, quite possibly, the most entertaining interview i have ever encountered. You simply *must * read it. It keeps getting better with every question. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/b-c-swimmer-crosses-strait-of-georgia-under-nine-hours-9.7316260

spending the evening going down the #VRChat avatar rabbit hole. Just looking at options re creating / buying without full on from scratch blender stuff. WHY are all the female things on the marketplaces so ridiculously slutty / sexualized. holy crap.

Oh look, gender is a performance, just like we've been saying. Autistic folks are just more honest about the fact that all the 💩 we do in society is a performance. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6223803/ #autism #transgender #genderfluid

This is your friendly reminder that if you're a #mastodon user who regularly has something more to say than you can fit in 500 characters, I have a tool for that. FediThready will break your long thoughts into multiple posts. It supports images, posting as a reply, and more. Even better, NONE of the data flows through my server. Once you've loaded the page everything happens on your computer. And it's #OpenSource https://fedithready.app/

I'm trying to acquire "Witch Who Courted Death" by Maria Lewis + any of the books in this series really. I literally can't buy it in digital format. Not even on amazon. The publisher has it locked down to Australia. I can't find any epub copies of it, or torrents. An author has written a book which is really well reviewed and has loving fans and i literally can't read it because of fucking region locks, DRM, and bullshit capitalism. Why should I bother trying for a...

RE: https://dacharycarey.social/@dachary/116989630227821882 Life *seriously* got better once I was able to be a house spouse, but the past 6 weeks I've been in too much pain to do anything really. Now we're back to being reminded that this society was founded on slave labor. When chattel slavery was made illegal, it eventually fell to the wife to do all the unpaid labor, but when the wife started having to work too the systems never changed. 🧵1/4

I want to read more sapphic #romantasy, but I don’t want “dark romance” and I don’t want another power fantasy or something centered around the fact that the main character is some sort of chosen one. I just want a story of “normal” women in interesting situations who fall in love. Why is that so hard? #sapphic #romance

You know what would be cool? Being friends with a trans woman my own age. I think there are only 2 trans women I'm actually close with, and one of them's >10yrs older than me and the other's > 10 years younger than me. I'm not sure I've even *seen* any trans women my age (early 50s) here on fedi. I hope there are some. 🤞 I just feel kind-of isolated. You know? Anyway. If there are any 50ish yr old trans women out there looking for a friend… 👋 #transgender

Fleer: n. The deceitful grin of civility. — No, I didn’t make that up. It’s just not something anyone uses anymore. But we should. It the flight smiling you have to wear when you’re not allowed to show your true thoughts. Credit belongs to a TikTok video that I accidentally lost the link to

Wizard People Dear Reader is an audio track that you play while watching the original Harry Potter movie on mute. It's a juvenile comedy and, of course something that would absolutely piss off JKR. I haven't listened to it, yet, but I think i have a blue ray of the first movie (before she came out as a TERF) so now I want to experience it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizard_People,_Dear_Reader
