Just to note that according to the Guardian, with results in all constituencies and 5/8 regional lists in Scotland, SNP have got 57 seats and Scottish Greens now have 10 which is a majority for Scottish Independence isn't it?

For some reason Hannan Fry is optimistic AI will get better at this (but then maybe her job depends on it?). Personally I think mathematicians have better things to do. 'Brit mathematician lets AI agent loose with credit card – cue password leaks, CAPTCHA chaos and more British mathematician Professor Hannah Fry has shared a cautionary experiment involving an AI agent, a set of tasks, and a bank card number Fry's team gave it "to show us what it could do."' @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us given the various rolling threats to the cash ISA allowance I would have expected anyone with any free cash would have used up their 2025/6 £20k allowance long ago. Those who haven't are no doubt the majority of saver and dis-savers who don't have the cash to save more anyway. Lets see what happens now we have a new financial year, though I'd imagine most will be reluctant to put too much money in stocks and shares ISA rather than a cash ISA in a falling market.

@jess@blop.social quite possibly they tried somebody else's doorstep and they weren't in either - in the past when they've failed to deliver I've been sent photos of lots of other doorsteps and have had to puzzle out how they got to go to that one. This happens even when we give them written instruction as to how to find us and a phone number to ring if they still can't. Or more likely they just had too many deliveries to do in the time available (often because the company is...

@PoliceStateUK@mastodon.me.uk the US could at least try to control Israel, it would just have to stop, or at least threaten to stop, supplying it with weapons and money. But it chooses not to do so, nor does the UK, Germany or most other western states either.

@John_Loader@ohai.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us but surely US Oil is still flowing and the price it sells at keeps going up. Why spoil the party by easing alternatives oil supplies? What's not to like if you are Trump or his Russian, Oil and Gas industry backers and media owning boilkionaires (and who worries about the poor consumer).

@nazokiyoubinbou@urusai.social @SatanicPanDick@kolektiva.social @SecurityWriter@infosec.exchange why settle for 3.5" (not) floppy? Why not a 5.25" actual floppy or a 8" for that matter (used them all in my time). Definately wont fit in your pocket, though being lighter perhaps you could wear one as a rather unwieldy earring.

@hermitofalba@mastodon.scot the problem isn't with having to alter our external time-pieces - most of the important ones, such as alarms and heating controllers, now make the change automatically. The problem is that the change scews up our biological clocks. Time to get rid of this ridiculous tradition.

@catch56@kolektiva.social @futurebird@sauropods.win @afewbugs@social.coop of course, in the UK, despite our King being head of the Church of England as well as head of state and Anglican bishops still voting in the House of Lords, as of our last census Christians are actually a (very much not persecuted) minority in England and Wales (46%) and those of no religion are a majority in Scotland (51%). This compares with 74% professed Christians in the (constitutionally non-religious) USA. Time we d...

@CppGuy@infosec.space of course one change that they should get onto immediately is decoupling the price of electricity from the price of gas. The price should only increase for the proportion for generation that comes from gas, with the current marginal pricing policy it just goes up in proportion to the gas price with most of that going to profit. Ths would immediately transform the economics of heat pumps which with current fuel prices are only marginally cost effective. With gas prices go...

@statsguy@mas.to a point I've previously made in relation to how many EV charging points there are vs. number of petrol pumps (there are now slightly more public EV charging points than pumps). However given my very limited annual mileage these days, mostly on short journeys, I doubt if I would be all that troubled by this if I were to have to replace my 10 year old Skoda Fabia Combi (and unlike your Skoda it has been almost entirely reliable) but equally I can't see a case for replacing...
