The frequency with which people regularly blow up their careers, finances, positions, and status in pursuit of ideological or emotional goals is one big reason I just reject the “X is a mask for power”/“They don’t actually believe that.” heuristic in favor of imperfectionism.

I appreciate that they tell me exactly when my ballot will be mailed and to what address a month early so I can do something about it if I like ;)

Supply chain risk has me thinking of shifting away from the Arch User Repository for most stuff. If a project is hosted on github, you can stick http://github.com/user/repo/releases.atom in your feed reader to see updates.

A more experienced programmer can provide better guidance (“Why do you want to do that?”, “Actually that’s a footgun and instead you could…”, “Our environment is weird, so…”) And asking and answering questions is part of development. They say you don’t understand something you can’t explain, so what happens when nobody is expected to /explain anything to others/?

Amusing that my mother stops complaining that I’m in a False, Satanic church the moment I mention they have me getting out of the house and square-dancing.
