I've got a linguistic question: In the language you grew up with, what does a baby first call their parents? And what is that language, and location on the globe? Boosts appreciated, to get more responses.

Hey vis.social! Keeping our server running is paid for by members of our little community. If you can chip in a bit, there are options listed on our About page(https://vis.social/about). If you 'd also like to join my Sticker Club and still support our server expenses, I've set up a tier for that. After all these years, during which I've gone through Cancer and back (still getting regular scans and transitioning to Cancer Survivorship Care)....umm...as an artist Mastodon has done very little for me. Sorry, but it's true. If Mastodon, and the greater fediverse, if you really care about artists and creative works, you need to actually BUY them! If you don't buy my art, please buy somebody else's! I boost artists I enjoy all the time. Look them up. Buy their art! #art #mas...

Since the most recent update to Mastodon, and the introduction of Collections (starter packs), I've been slowly adding folks to some of my collections. Most of the people I see in my timeline, and would like to add to a Collection like #DataVis, or #SciArt, or #CreativeCoding? Most of these folks have permissions set to forbid being added to a Collection. If you're hesitant? I *think*, but need to confirm, that there is a permission level that lets you confirm or deny a reques...

I've finally decided on this month's sticker for my ArtAtomic Sticker Club. I love how the inks played together in the hand drawn original that this sticker is created from. I'll be mailing these out to folks who join my Sticker Club before the end of July: https://www.patreon.com/cw/KristinHenry/membership #stickers #art #flowers #ink #drawing #SciArt #ProceduralArt #ArtForSale

RE: https://vis.social/@kristinHenry/116813769607965329 Ok, finding artists that create #SciArt and are currently active on Mastodon *and* allow being added to Collections...is not as easy as I was hoping. If you create #SciArt and would like to be included in this collection, please let me know. Your settings might have permission turned off, so you'll have to modify that setting to be included...if you want to.

Hey Boston fediverse! I'm looking for places to eat outdoors in Boston, with coverage if there is rain. Any suggestions? Searching is proving difficult, especially for finding info on if there is coverage outdoors. Update: I asked before, and got great recommendations, but I'm finding the covered outdoors part difficult to confirm. #food #foody #Boston #OutdoorDining #Outdoors

Went to see the opening of the Ruth Asawa: Untitled show today. I always enjoy seeing her works, and this was no exception. Beautifully curated. I especially enjoyed this 'tryptic'. I loved seeing the water color, the ink drawing, and the abstraction of colors all together. The show is open through June 20. If you're in San Francisco, go see it! https://ruthasawa.com/exhibition/ruth-asawa-untitled/ #art #RuthAsawa #sfba

I've finally chosen this month's ArtAtomic Sticker Club sticker. This one was created with a particle system inspired by Chemistry and Physics, but went in a floral direction. https://www.patreon.com/posts/157671631 #SciArt #art #stickers #GenerativeArt #ProceduralArt #CreativeCoding

Came across this drawing while working on scanning my daily #inkyDays drawings. These are abstract representations of mitochondria, and I very much enjoy drawing them. #SciArt #ink #drawing #art #Biology #CellBiology

I'm going to be in Boston for a couple days. What should I see while I'm there? Also, are there any really good food spots that also have outdoor seating? *Boosts will help with reach, and more suggestions. #Boston #CovidCautious #art

  Today's Mathtober prompt is "Minor". For this one, I went with the vernacular meaning, and added some baby penguins with a 'grown up' penguin for today's #inkyDays drawing. https://www.patreon.com/posts/140222503 https://ko-fi.com/Post/InkyDays-October-2025-P5P01M567L #Mathtober #mathober #ink #drawing #art #penguins #GenerativeArt #ProceduralArt #MastoArt #wip

I think enough time has passed, that I can finally share what I made 'from garbage data" in public! I miss working on projects like this, and having to not share them reduces my chances of being hired to work with data like this...ugh. Anyway, when most of my work is about finding and sharing patterns....this project was all about helping folks see how chaotic an existing system is: https://www.patreon.com/posts/102234094 #dataviz #urbanData #NYC #mapping #data #art #chaos

My dear sewist friends, I need your help. My kido is looking for a sewing pattern...a good one...for 1910-ish shirtwaists. But no high neck. Preferably, it will have larger sizes with more information on how to tailor it. Pleat inclusion is wonderful, but kido can add them in. Looking for an actual pattern, with enough info that it can be created. What lines can be bumped out, and so on. editing to ad photo that is closest to historic style looking for.

I still have some of my flag stickers left, so if folks want to participate in my #StickersAndStamps project, now's a great time to sign up. If you'd like one, mention my Minnesota flag sticker, and I'll include it in the envelope. Oh wow! Even here in foggy San Francisco with tons of light pollution, we were able to see four of Jupiter's moons just now. And the moon is glorious! We actually took out our little telescope to get a better look. Amazing! Look up! #sfba #space #moon #jupiter #nightsky #science
