Planning to smoke some baby back ribs on our Traeger tomorrow, first time doing this on this unit. Need to decide between apple, cherry or pecan pellets, and can't. #Traeger #SmokingRibs

There was a massive rainstorm in Connecticut on Sunday - we were not home so we didn't see it in person, but the chart showing our sump pump's activity for the last 48 hours tells a pretty good story.

I'm considering self-hosting Pocket ID to use as an OIDC identity provider for various other self-hosted services. It's small and simple and easy to understand, but there's a big gap: high availability. If I set up an instance on a machine somewhere, and that machine dies, every service using it as an IdP is temporarily inaccessible until the situation is cured. How do other self-hosters address this situation? I understand at some point there are single points of failure, but I&#39...

A salad of romaine lettuce, croutons, shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, and 'house' vinaigrette is not a Caesar salad.

@bkuhn@fedi.copyleft.org OK, so you're saying this is a restriction on a downstream user of the software's rights, which makes sense. I had not previously thought of 'further restriction' applying beyond the initial recipient/user of the software - the proposed 'further permission' does not apply any additional restrictions to them.

Given the recent LG Terms of Service changes, many LG TV owners will need signs like this in their homes, so there's a huge market opportunity!

Today I had a lovely DIY success: using tools and guides from @iFixit@mastodon.social I successfully replaced the battery in a 4 year old OnePlus 9 Pro which was otherwise in perfect working order. My wife's phone was purchased at the same time and also needs a new battery so I'll do that one tomorrow. We will keep using these phones until the unfixed security vulnerability situation forces us to do something else, although that might be switching to @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social . The...

A sign made by a marketing team who does not understand the difference between percentages and percentage points. A discount of 0.05% of a mortgage rate is so small it is almost not worth asking for.

We are rewatching Six Feet Under and I had completely forgotten about Rainn Wilson being in the show, and his character being the prototype for Dwight Schrute.

Hit me up for details if you are interested.

I'm getting pretty tired of TV shows in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Stop wasting my screen space.

Linux sysadmin question (since it's no longer possible to find actual answers via search on the Internet): How can I configure the PATH to *always* have a specific directory in it when a shell (Bash) is started, regardless of whether the shell is login/non-login, interactive/non-interactive, etc.? The normal steps (adding a file in /etc/profile.d which adds to the path) work for login/interactive shells, but not for shells opened by sshd with a command to execute (no pty). #Linux #Sys...

Is there anyone out there willing to accept payment for building a new feature in Mastodon? In particular I want to enable server-side filtering of boosts where the boosted post is already available in the timeline (whether it has been viewed or not). From what I can guess, the feature just needs to check to see if the poster of the boosted post is being followed by the user and if so, suppress the boost. If you're interested in creating a patch for this and preparing it for submission...
