RE: https://berlin.social/@berlinfediday/117337512329875864 Yep, here's my presentation at Berlin FediDay 2026, where I talked about SciOp and its federation plans. 🙂 That was a really nice environment and audience for this exchange. Good Q&A too. I'm looking forward to the recording of the “research on the fediverse” panel at the end of the session. #FediDay #ActivityPub #SciOp

@julian@activitypub.space Thank you! Yes, the context-level interaction controls (we talked about them briefly near the start of the year) will most likely not be part of v1 of my document. I am still curious whether a FEP-c0d0 lock and the interaction policy you posted are indeed equivalent given these conditions: https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/federation/interaction_controls/#implicit-assumptions I'm assuming no. In my draft text I leave it open whether an interaction constraint i...

Had a pretty calm day 1 of Berlin #FediDay, got to meet @lavaeolus@fedihum.org, @mkljczk@twojstary.gay, @liaizon@social.wake.st, @_elena@mastodon.social and @tommi@pan.rent and probably some people I've forgotten. 🙂

RE: https://ecscw.eusset.eu/2026/2026/07/04/ecscw-2026-has-ended/ .. and I basically collapsed and slept 11 hours. 😴 Waiting for a few late payments and invoices to balance the books, having a handful of follow-on email conversations, then the “Julian organizes a conference” chapter can be over, at least for a while. #AcademicChatter #ECSCW2026

Re-sharing a small open source project I just finished polishing: PoseViz, my browser-based pose recording data visualizer/player. https://fietkau.software/poseviz When I left my previous employer, we discussed what would remain there and what I would take with me. PoseViz is one of our bespoke research tools now in my private custody. I put a bit of effort into making it presentable and fun to play with. Try opening some of the different demo recordings! 🙂 #OpenSource #PoseTracking #threejs

@MastodonEngineering@mastodon.social Let's work together on the starter pack FEP! 🙂 I've been putting gas into ActivityPub starter packs recently with @anze3db@fosstodon.org and we're already interoperating with WordPress (cc @pfefferle@mastodon.social). I'm down to make our stuff match Mastodon's so we can have compatibility in both directions, plus there are considerations on our side for the AP object schema as well. DMs are of course open.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@bagder/116359048796181736 Could be potentially nice for fediverse server testing, as more implementations make the jump to final RFC 9421 HTTP signatures. On the flip side, ever more complex curl invocations (here: Accept header plus signature fields plus key file, presumably) suggest use of more specialized CLI tools, such as provided by @fedify@hollo.social, or at least scripts/aliases. Speaking of RFC 9421, which notable fediverse implementations can't hand...

Fun personal announcement: I'm changing jobs! 🙂 Starting in June, I'll be working at @tibhannover with @Lambo and team as a Research Software Engineer. The job posting is still online, so you can see here what I'll be up to: https://www.tib.eu/en/tib/careers-and-apprenticeships/vacancies/details/stellenausschreibung-nr-7-2026 Basically it's about research data infrastructure, particularly integrating SciOp (https://sciop.net) at TIB. It's exciting stuff...

@clemens Oh, I didn't know that's by your group. 🙂 I've had it on my to-do list to swap an (older) add-on I've been using for Consent-o-matic and see how well it works. Did that just now!

I have recently been helping @anze3db with the backend code for starter packs curated on @fedidevs, specifically with splash images. In the future, you should be seeing the new splash images in the link preview if you share a starter pack on here. Example: https://fedidevs.com/s/NDYw/ (by @liaizon) This was a side effect of my work on interoperable ActivityPub starter packs. The goal is that https://fedidevs.com starter packs will be compatible with Mastodon's (https://blog.joinmastodon...

My ongoing #ActivityPub projects in order of priority, for anyone waiting for something: – Interaction policy / reply controls FEP: highest priority, stalled for the past few weeks due to other responsibilities – @encyclia: probably migrating from Deno+Fresh to Node+Hono for @fedify 2.0, boring infra work – Updating @fedidevs starter packs for compatibility with @loops and @Mastodon packs: on warm hold, will get to it, but vainly hoping someone will write a Python lib for it before I have to 🙃

Seems as good a day as any to thank @hongminhee and team for the exemplary work on @fedify. Following Fedify's big 2.0 release, my two largest interoperability pain points in @encyclia can be fixed. 🙂 https://github.com/fedify-dev/fedify/issues/473 means that people using @gotosocial will finally be able to follow @encyclia accounts soon (whenever I finish the upgrade). https://github.com/fedify-dev/fedify/issues/472 will let me (and others) handle more account resolution edge cases an...

RE: https://ecscw.eusset.eu/2026/2026/03/02/825/ Ever considered being part of an academic conference as a student volunteer? I'm coordinating the SV call for #ECSCW2026 and we're looking for people. I'd say “please apply if you're interested,” but knowing who follows me, “please forward this to your students” is statistically more fitting. 😄

@fedify That is one juicy changelog! 🤩 Makes me want to jump into upgrading @encyclia, especially after we postponed the Fresh 2.x integration. But it sounds like that's going to be a bit of an adventure, so I'll wait until I can set an afternoon aside for it.
