Firefighters in the USA are overwhelmingly Republican voters, constantly voting to accelerate global warming upon themselves and endanger their own lives. They are mostly prolife conservatives. Most voted for DOGE to cut their own budget and numbers. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/sep/16/wildfires-government-firefighter-shortage

"H-1B visas, established by Congress in 1990, are especially critical for tech companies seeking talent from India and China, allowing them to fill roles where there is sometimes a lack of qualified US workers."<--This is not true. The primary use of these visas is to undercut US workers, most of all women and minorities regarded as low caste. https://www-ndtv-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.ndtv.com/world-news/us-moves-to-end-60-day-grace-period-for-h-1b-other-work-visa-holders-120...

RE: https://mastodon.world/@Captain_Jack_Sparrow/117070240646994639 You are absolutely correct. Arabic is the biggest Semitic language. The ancestors of Jews & Arabs were genetically indistinguishable. Eritreans almost all speak Semitic languages, as do a great many Ethiopians as well. Both countries share a lot of DNA with the neighboring Arabs of Yemen.

The scholars had enthusiastically praised Segal, with one committee member describing a presentation he gave as “breathtaking”. But five days after making the offer, the university abruptly withdrew it, citing “perspective” it had received from members of the community. The reversal followed backlash over Segal’s criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, which he called “a textbook case of genocide” in an October 2023 op-ed published in Jewish Currents. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-inte...

This is funded by massive American handouts, while there is bitter right-wing resentment of domestic spending on America itself: "The Israeli settlements are considered illegal under international law. Israel’s funding for illegal settlement expansion has continued amid an intensified campaign of settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, with more than 11,000 settler and military attacks across the region so far this year, according to Palestinian media." https://www-a...

In Delaware, one of the few states that reports these figures, Black students make up 12 percent of the homeschool population. Researchers have documented thriving homeschool communities among Black, Hispanic, rural, military and secular families — each homeschooling for their own reasons, from academic fit to school safety to flexibility. Our research has also found that homeschooling parents look a lot like other parents. They value many of the same things... https://thehill.com/opinion/educa...

Burke Law Group has 26 employees across eight offices, according to its website. None of the firm's attorneys list immigration law as a practice area. Instead, their practices include administrative law, white-collar defense, commercial litigation, securities litigation and other areas. One of the founders, Marcella Burkey, was a former Trump appointee to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Interior. https://abcnews-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/abcnews.com/amp/U...

A motive other than maintaining security must, therefore, be at play. It is not hard to find one when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ruled out a two-state solution and champions annexing the occupied West Bank to Israel while some members of his cabinet, like Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a settler himself, openly espouse policies that would encourage West Bank Palestinians to emigrate. https://www-aljazeera-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/opinions/2026/8/5/...

Thanedar narrowly won the seat in 2022 after self-funding his campaign, but he has faced his share of scrutiny since. Thanedar initially ran as a progressive but broke with the Democratic Socialists of America in 2023 — he says he quit, the local chapter says he was expelled — and has rebranded more around supporting Israel. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-election/democratic-rep-shri-thanedar-loses-primary-progressive-challenger-mich-rcna590894

Today, approximately 95 percent of criminal cases in the United States are resolved through guilty pleas rather than trials. In so-called plea bargaining, prosecutors threaten unduly severe sentences for those defendants who dare go to trial or offer unduly lenient sentences for dangerous offenders looking to avoid responsibility. ... How did this occur? The short answer is that the Supreme Court let it happen, caving to Richard Nixon’s “law and order” agenda. https://thehill-com.cdn.ampproject...

@Darkphoenix@universeodon.com The overwhelming majority of billionaire wealth these days isn't caused by billionaires themselves. It's been caused by incessant tax cuts and other such measures imposed by racist voters in backlash against MLK and Civil Rights. Just after Civil Rights, there were far fewer billionaires and they held a much smaller slice of the pie. Racists enrich billionaires in order to concentrate wealth and opportunity. It is economic segregation.

A few months after Duncan’s victory in November 2025, the state found another way to knock him down. It moved to eliminate his office entirely, and disenfranchise the thousands of New Orleanians who had just voted him in. A largely obscure, down-ballot local election transformed into a metaphor for this era of competitive authoritarianism, where the desire for power at all costs seemingly snuffs out even the most exceptional and historic achievements. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-int...
