  Thinking about programmers losing their coding skills because of their reliance on AI tools made me wonder if there was some other industry where heavy automation led to concerns over loss of skills. And yes, there is: airplane pilots. They train manual flight maneuvers regularly to preserve pilot skills, because when the automation fails is precisely when you need a skilled operator.
