Priceless. The doc they referenced under the China subject is an entertaining read [NICA Foreign Threats To 2020 US Election_19AUG2020 DECLASS_REDACTED.pdf] My favorite part: "โข - Russian actors have circulated narratives about voter fraud resulting from mailin balloting and called some US primary voting processes "rigged" by the Democratic Party" https://www.mediaite.com/politics/trump/document-declassified-by-trump-reveals-russia-tried-to-help-him-win-the-2020-electio...

I'll miss this part of my morning routine. The last couple weeks was the ultimate farewell for the show. Also fitting that his final f-u was to give his nemesis zero oxygen in the last broadcast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76Gopgo-4PY #lateshow #StephenColbert #comedy

I guess this wouldn't be a catchy headline if it called out the true culprit: developer, admin, CTO. Let a tool blindly overwrite your codebase - pay the price. https://www.theregister.com/ai-ml/2026/05/21/gemini-accused-of-30000-line-code-purge-and-fake-recovery-report/5244219 #ai #vibecoding #developer

Also true to form, another "creator" waving away responsibility for their actions. When they're caught they ban the AI, but they really need to start banning contributors too. @mttaggart@infosec.exchange Responsible use is maintaining your role as the expert at all stages of the project. AI is a tremendous tool but has been made so easy to misuse by making it entertaining and our little code "buddy". You really hit many of what I consider responsible AI practices. Two of my main rules... Review everything. If you don't understand the AI's code, the subject matter, references, etc don't commit until you do. Don't ever accept auto-commit. Sec...

@ned@beige.party The judge gets it. "Judge Carolyn Kuhl, who is presiding over the trial, ordered anyone in the courtroom wearing AI glasses to immediately remove them, noting that any use of facial recognition technology to identify the jurors was banned." They should have been held in contempt anyway. By the time they noticed the glasses, the data already left the building.

Some good options here. One thing I noticed when I started eliminating services was how little I missed them, and how robust the alternatives are. Many services will have migration paths. Just make sure you're prepared to migrate out if you find something isn't a fit. https://disconnect.blog/getting-off-us-tech-a-guide/

@donthatedontkill@mastodon.social it seemed like an odd way to show that they stopped listening to someone talking about people shutting down and not listening to each other. Open commentary is a blessing and a curse. It's annoying when rando commenters pop up like that. Sleep well ๐

@virtualbri@mastodon.online @elight@tenforward.social @startrek@fedigroups.social this is true but Trek was also the visionary of new things in a way. Top of my head is the communicator to the flip phone. The mechanic that was used to ground events in the past was literally time travel or the holodeck. The show that seems to live in the present but cast in the future is an excusable beef of mine, but noticeable. And WHERE'S TILLY? She went off to teach at the academy and I thought she for...

@elight@tenforward.social @virtualbri@mastodon.online @startrek@fedigroups.social I can accept the connection. It's a different Trek, but stays true to the soul of Star Trek. What bothers me is when they throw in so much anachronistic elements into a world over 1000 years in the future. We still have high school style gyms and roller board luggage we need to sit on to close... in the future? It's a little too familiar a place sometimes. Trek used to envision the future not the past.

Coda: The developer anonymously came forward to throw his bot under the bus. It's striking with the lack of accountability. When humans kick off automated processes, it's not the code's fault, the human holds the accountability. The same goes for AI and AI agents. I am not against using AI and agentic AI as a tool. But when ๐ฉ happens: improper use, poor coding, theft, whatever... it absolutely flows downhill and lands on the human. https://theshamblog.com/an-ai-agent-wrote-a-hit...

@setto@tooting.ch @silverpill@mitra.social Web of trust in that a trusted third party, the broker, vouch for who you are. But it seems like it's mainly a key proxy in the Nostr sense. Do you know where code is published? I'm looking at nsbunkerd on GitHub and the last commit was in 2024. It seems abandoned. Maybe there's a new The nsbunkerd links don't even work anymore. @setto@tooting.ch @silverpill@mitra.social Yes I agree it's a pain point. When I first started building I struggled with finding a way to have a federated identity. One service I found seemed to come with a monetary cost and also allowed someone else to be your identity broker. Which makes sense in the web of trust sense, but not what I was going for. What I like about Nostr is the idea of the one distributed cryptographic identity. But I'm still running into broker (bunker) problems -...

@dyne@toot.community It seems like Nostr is just another crypto wallet with a social graph attached to it. I set up Nostr today because I was curious. I created an identity through an app, onboarded to the app/server/whatever with some topic-based follows, and landed on the feed. Cool. What I was greeted with was Bitcoin spam and AI "art". Prominently featured was my wallet at every turn. After realizing I was just subscribed to people who I absolutely did not want on my social gr...
