„The problem is not merely abuse. It is industrial overconsumption wearing the mask of normal operations.“ It’s the standard capitalist plot: Use the commons in a way it was never supposed to be used. And then claim that it’s all legal and good and people should just stop complaining. @mittie@mastodon.online @rotnroll666@mastodon.social From: @aalmiray@mastodon.social https://mastodon.social/@aalmiray/116880274619129768

Just listened to one of the luminaries of software development say (paraphrased): „I sort of like pair programming but have been developing on my own for 20 years. Now I enjoy to pair up with Claude for programming. It’s making mistakes, but it’s _well-intended_ mistakes and we discuss them.“ When you’re at that stage of anthropomorphizing an automaton it will be hard to sympathise with the feelings and fallacies of real humans. You got rid of human friction and will probably never go back.

I‘m thinking about organising a conference „The Last Coder“ - in reference to the novel trilogy „The Last Policeman“. It would, of course, focus on coding without GenAI; would take place sometime between April and June ‘27 in my favourite conference location, which is about 50 km from Frankfurt. Max 60 people - or what the location can currently accommodate. Anyone interested in co-organising such an event? #TheLastCoder
