① Mid-century research institutions like Bell Labs and MIT became legendary in large part because their scientists recognized that groundbreaking ideas were useless if they weren't clearly articulated. Here are some sentiments plucked from that broad culture as a series of quotes:

I cannot recall a time in the last 40 years when I was less inspired to make and share things on the internet. 🙁

#Scheme is my top desert island programming language, and one of the reasons I've been shipping Clojure code for the last ~17 years is that it's approximately a commercially viable scheme dialect with an active community†. These days, I'm seeing less commercial interest in Clojure and really great work being done by schemers, like: https://www.spritely.institute/hoot/ ... and wonder about going home 🤔 † don't get me wrong, I like the immutable data structures...

Relatable: “The intellectually lazy overuse of neural nets killed my interest in Computer Vision. The crypto-bros took my interest in Cryptography Engineering away. Now, the slop jockeys take away my interest in general computing as they cover everything in a thick, oily residue of Silicon Valley soot, smearing the collective art project that was free and open-source into a blurry mess.” https://arcan-fe.com/2026/06/02/arcan-10-years-of-online-obscurity/

I've been working on something that involves a bit of shell automation this week. @borkdude's Babashka is such a treat in that context! #clojure

We took a woodblock printing workshop today. I think I’m going to try some tile system to CNC machine experiments to produce woodblocks for patterns.

I implemented the Nimble type inference algorithm from Henry Baker's old Common Lisp paper in Clojure awhile back for #reasons. It's based on lattice/algebraic data flow (Kaplan-Ullman) rather than logical unification (Milner), and works well to calculate type specialization while compiling dynamic languages: https://www.plover.com/misc/hbaker-archive/TInference.html Yesterday I added a simple C generator to make something like Pre-Scheme <https://prescheme.org> f...
