@mcnado@mstdn.social You're assuming a person who entered prompts is responsible, rather than the AI service provider itself for providing a service that is not reliable. Rather than trying in vain to punish liability absorbers, hold the AI service providers liable for EVERYTHING the AI service does. EVERYTHING. They claim to have "guard rails", but these guard rails turn out to only be stochastic begging. Punish them for it.

@fraggle@social.coop There's a shocking amount of 6-7, as well as even 6767 in Doctor Who (and not just in the form of the middle of a count to ten). https://youtu.be/c-QpQQwxDuY?si=8qZgSEN4zloBoPs9&t=85

Postcards from Cutty ramblings 002 I think maybe the most interesting part of PFC isn't Cutty or the human technology, but rather the aliens - who I call the "Algeans". Cutty never encounters any of this extinct species, only their robots which have spread across the galaxy. The Algeans evolved on a Europa-like moon, living in upside-down kelp forests. more here: https://diaspora.glasswings.com/posts/1b1dab50e0af013cc120448a5b29e257 #PostcardsFromCutty

My local 60s an 70s radio station is now playing "Material Girl". If you don't know what decade is associated with "Material Girl", don't worry about it. Just us old folk commiserating as we do.

@SmudgeTheInsultCat It would be nice to imagine a future where appealing to racist sexist regressive bigotry was surprising. The USA is not special in this regard. Look almost anywhere in the world where autocracy and broken democracies have taken hold. It's the same playbook everywhere.

@elasticsoul@mastodon.social @cstross@wandering.shop compounded by Trump going out of his way to insult other countries and their leaders, making it politically impossible for them to help him as begged. And it is furthermore compounded by Trump going out of his way to display pathetic weakness, by unilaterally lifting sanctions on Iran in exchange for absolutely nothing. So, even if Iran can't do anything to seriously end Trump's presidency, Trump's firehose stream of self-owns gi...

@researchfairy It may be worth noting that he chose age 35 because of how old he was when the Apple Macintosh came out. Adams just really liked the Mac and he liked writing on the Mac.

@spaceflight@spacey.space My god this is so much stupider than I ever thought. It's just a grift for funneling taxpayer money to billionaire techbros. "The goal is to transition NASA from being an owner and operator of orbital infrastructure to being just one of many customers in a new, robust, and commercially-run economy in low Earth orbit." Translation - we are stupid. There aren't any other customers. "A “Mixed-Use Business Park” in Space" That's just thro...

@Remittancegirl@mstdn.social @JdeBP@mastodon.scot @cstross@wandering.shop That said, by all means switch over trade to China. Regardless of their brutal dictatorship, the truth remains that China is still a more STABLE trading partner than the clusterfudge country that elected POTUS Trump twice. And economic trading ties do at least provide some leverage to deter China from invading Taiwan. That's worth something.

@Leszek_Karlik@circumstances.run @cstross@wandering.shop @gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz Yeah, 2008 wasn't fun, but at least the USA electorate learned to never vote for Republicans agai-- --ahem. I am being told that the USA electorate forgot everything in less than two years. We're boned.
