@mcc@mastodon.social @decay@gts.todayiwilllaunchmyinfantsonintoorbit.com @amarioguy@social.treehouse.systems @MaddieM4@raphus.social Fourier and wavelet transforms are really important though, even though most programs don't do them. but you raise a good point.

as an anarchist we don't really see institution-building as a particularly great theory of change it might have something to do with having wound up at odds with organizations we created, you know? that bit of personal history might make the seemingly abstract concern feel a lot more concrete to us. just speculation but to whatever extent you do end up building institutions anyway (and there are reasons to, even so), remember that preventing Nazi takeover is mandatory. you must have a stra...

so we did the official release yesterday, but work continues on Evocation :) currently we're working on adding support for external files, which will let us stop using those huge pipelines for the build process

  • View post

okay, so we were too preoccupied to toot while we were doing it, but earlier today we got Evocation tracking blocks of compiled memory that are slid around after being created that was hard! very twisty

the game should also have a repeatable quest where you add bits of data on the daily habits of each skeleton to help future conservators identify which is which

okay but we really want to play a fantasy wildlife conservation game though sigh we may need to make one someday. seems like hard work

there's a plausible future in which software development ceases to be a viable business model because executives are unable to restrain their own greed, and push to race as fast as possible by using generated code, while refusing to believe that there needs to be somebody at the company who understands how it works

and so designers of assembly language syntaxes have to choose, do you stick with your convention about where the target is, or do you stick with your convention about how it lines up with traditional math-on-paper notation? since we're doing RPN, we have this a bit easier, but it's still a trap for the unwary

local solar power is a great thing that we hope lots of people adopt just please make sure you understand the electronics. do not burn your home down with it. (we survived a house fire that may have been caused in part by dangerous wiring choices, so we're a bit sensitive to that)

does anybody have a favorite logo of any sort that involves a globe or realistic rendition of the Earth, especially if the agenda it glorifies is a horrifying one? we have started a collection

we get annoyed at this claim we see going around, that the only way to make free software sustainable is to turn it back into capitalism

the "baby boom" lasted from roughly the end of WW2 in the 1940s, into the early 1960s. it happened because the entire world had been pouring all its resources into the war, and with the war over, people were excited about the future again and could afford to buy houses, raise families, etc.

we dreamed that we were configuring an endless graph of objects each of which added behavior to the others, but no matter how many abstraction layers we created, it would never do what we wanted

  • View post

there how do people who aren't used to reading other people's source do this, heh

  • View post

anyway now that we've read the source of like five layers deep of our transitive dependencies, we have verified that this is a "simple" matter of making sure the appropriate library path is findable at runtime, which of course by default in nix it isn't

we haven't fleshed out this argument properly yet, so maybe it's a mistake to mention it, but we feel like public news aggregation is inherently bound up with control in its goals, and should be avoided
