You cant tell me that this isnt Fascism, these aren't Nazis, and that Trump isn't a Dictator. He can be defeated at the voting booth but only if you show up, and you protect + help those he targets to show up. > the Office of Remigration will “provide a policy platform for interagency coordination with DHS and other agencies on removals/repatriations, and for intra-agency policy work to advance the President’s immigration agenda.” https://www.thehandbasket.co/p/state-department-of...

Tax rates for vehicle registrations should be based on weight * horsepower and maybe one or two other terms like maybe axles or model year age. This 777 hp dodge ram suv is going to be a literal killer and it only primarily be bought by road-rage-prone ass holes. Fortunately, insurance rates and fuel consumption are already going to be too heavy a load for most people's wallets. https://www.autoblog.com/news/rams-first-suv-coming-with-777-hp-supercharged-v8 #Cars #Dodge #SUV

Shower Thought: Technology is amoral, but it should be regulated to the extent that its users are immoral. Similarly, separating the Art from the Artist disregards the harm to the moral fabric implicitly condoned by engaging the Art. What the athlete does on-the-field shouldn't be isolated from how they behave off-the-field. Not entirely original or fully qualified / correct thought, I admit. Is one of these three more true than the others? #ShowerThought #showerthoughts

C'mon GenZ of The United States - I believe in you! You can do it too! > "For the first time in his long political career, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aura of political invincibility appears to have been punctured. > An upstart youth movement, founded only 37 days earlier, forced his government into a humiliating climbdown this weekend and prompted the resignation of the education minister." https://www.ft.com/content/71bbe9fd-e1cb-4e28-8edb-f319032139c4?syn-2...

Has anyone actually test driven a Slate pickup truck? I had been under the impression that I could test drive one before I committed to buying one even with my mere $50 deposit, but I guess I lost my delivery window reservation because I didnt commit. #Slate #SlateTruck

Turns out it was Shen Yun this whole time!! > The investigation found that over the past two decades, the performing arts nonprofit Shen Yun obtained the names and mailing addresses of hundreds of millions of U.S. voters to publicize its performances across the country. RE: https://pkm.social/@ike/116931019239822721 Even if you aren't in the US - what he says and does tonight _will_ affect you. Fascism can only survive by exporting itself. So, even Canadians, Mexicans, and our European (former) Allies in England, France, Spain, Germany can expect to be negatively impacted by whatever Trump has planned tonight. You will want to pressure your own leaders to stand up to Trump because his ambitions don't end at America's borders. #EU #Canada #Me...

Ok, as an alternative to Discord, Chatto (https://github.com/chattocorp/chatto) is looking rather promising. - AGPL - can be easily self hosted - Paid hosting available in EU (better privacy protection) - Written in Go - mobile apps on roadmap - web app is good on both mobile and desktop browsers - one client can connect to multiple servers I have a demo instance running on my homelab and I could see opening this up to my friends using tailscale funnels. #Discord #Chatto #Slack #Zulip #Tai...

I'm often amused when I hear folks explain that the top 10% of households pay ~60% of all taxes in the US (Federal, State, Local, etc) - as if that is a statistic that suggests the rich are over-taxed. My dude - if income were more evenly distributed, then the rich wouldn't have to carry such a high tax burden! An incremental income of $1,000 means nothing to a billionaire, but it means the world to low income folks. You don't have to be a socialist to see the proble...

RE: https://social.lansky.name/@hn500/116829743736612830 Sometimes I want to give up on this whole internet thing and just start doing things that way my great-grandparents did. I mean - really. Our cars track us, our cell phones track us, our credit cards track us, etc. Its all stupendously absurd. I'm tired of the activities I do just to exist, living my one and only life, being turned into a product for some mega-corp's profit or government's surveillance.

In early childhood,I had acres around me to play in. Later I had miles of safe streets to ride my bike on. As a hormonic teenager, I had the unadulterated internet to explore. Like the first parts of my childhood which have been made untenable, the last part is under siege by US Congress via KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act). There are numerous reasons not to support this, among them the protection of Free Speech, and freedom from surveillance. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/06/kids-act-...

Reflecting on how there are so few public spaces where you can just hang out without spending money (ie libraries, parks) in the US - and it totally makes sense. The system is optimized for people using their time to either (1) make money, or (2) spend money. Time spent any other way is a perverse affront to what it means to be American. (But it doesn't have to be this way - its just what our system ended up creating). #USPol

Some people I know in a nearby town are excited about a Chick-fil-A opening up in their city. I'm sure it'll be the perfect accompaniment to the really distinct character staples their city like Valvoline, 7-11, Safeway, Dairy Queen, and Starbucks. I really fucking hate developer driven cities: No soul. Can't exist there without spending money. No reason to visit - just places to stop at as you drive through to more interesting places.

re: Homelabs... I'm just using an old laptop and an old mini pc, and sometimes an old raspberry pi 3 from 2015 to do my nerdery. I know some folks have more sophisticated setups - some even with server racks! I guess I'm still in "amateur" homelab territory - at what point do I need to more serious RAID arrays and what not? #Homelab

1/🧵 Many consider Ranni's ending to be the "best" in terms of outcomes. I vehemently disagree. True, it is probably "best" for the Tarnished, but it resolves none of the problems that are within the Lands Between. It leaves the same power-vacuum in place as exists at the start of the game. If the Tarnished can't solve the problems in the Lands Between, why should we believe that they can solve those problems wherever they end up with Ranni?...

I heard that this Iran war was won, done, and wrapping up in 2 weeks - 2 weeks ago. Now I hear about downed fighter jets, lost pilots and crew, $1,700,000,000 more money needed, and the Straight _still_ isn't 'liberated' - all from a guy who thought he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. Like - the guy doesn't have egg on his face - his face is like a giant piece of egg. #USPol #Iran

Trump wants to use Border Patrol to step in for TSA? 1) That is probably a better use of their time than what they'd be doing otherwise 2) But they are probably massively overpaid to stand there and scan your ID, boarding pass, carry-on and personal item - much more expensive than TSA 3) Im sure thats not going to make TSA happy.... having highly paid scabs come in and take their jobs 4) That takes the pressure off Dems to make a deal at all. From a recent hike. I was trying to capture how neat it is that I was down in the swampy estuary, but had a line of sight up a mount with a cloud-shrouded peak and trees frosted with snow. Such a dramatic change in the conditions in a short while! Oh, and lots of moss and lichen too! #Mosstodon
