So, the #game millions of kids and teens played — enthusiastically mapping their own cities while hunting #Pokémon — is now helping #military drones navigate and strike targets even without GPS? 💀 Keep replying ‘I have nothing to hide’ to anyone defending #privacy in our tech-saturated world. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/jun/12/pokemon-go-data-trained-ai-that-could-assist-military-drones-in-war-zones

Hate makes us blind to nuance. Worship does too. Don't let your feelings about a person override your ability to think clearly about what they actually do.

I can already imagine a book in the near future called “The President Prompts” — a full collection of every prompt used to generate the photos and videos that hijack the news and social media with pure shock and rage. #AI

I usually don’t pay much attention to #Bitcoin, but burning $8 million worth of tokens seems strange. Why burn them? They could have sold them or given them away. Odd.

Decentralized social media never went mainstream because users had to fund it themselves (donations or self-hosting). That’s why #Facebook & co. won — everything was “free,” so people accepted the privacy nightmare. Now #Meta is starting to charge. This could finally change how people see decentralized platforms. #Mastodon #Fediverse

#Apple #Meta #Google #Amazon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyVgyVJgI-w

I wonder how someone reconciles xenophobic views of Latin Americans with the idea of adding Venezuela as the 51st state.

So, millions of dollars spent to buy used/old non-fiction physical #books, scan them, and finally destroy them — all to train #AI . It was ruled completely legal. But destroying books just doesn’t feel right. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-quest-to-destructively-scan-all-the-worlds-books/id1444873564?i=1000747250490&l=en-GB

I didn’t know there’s a $42 million, 10,000-year clock currently under construction inside the Sierra Diablo mountain range in West Texas. It has a year hand, a century hand, and a cuckoo that emerges every 1,000 years.

@Aquilla @signalapp While the location of a privacy-focused service does matter, the technology behind it matters even more. Laws can change, and shift their stance on privacy at any moment. What truly makes Signal strong isn’t where it’s based, but how it’s built: end-to-end encryption and virtually zero metadata retention. These design choices mean that even if a government demanded data, Signal simply wouldn’t have anything meaningful to hand over.
