must be a uniquely european thing to be able to frame the breach of a border fence in africa as a violation of european sovereignty and talk about a colonial enclave as being a victim of invasion

as someone who was very obsessed indeed with music as a means of language acquisition in my teenage years i am incapable of reading or hearing the name "claude" without immediately associating it with mc solaar

the high density of ferry routes is a very cool thing about living in skåne. just back from an incredible road trip through poland. genuinely amazing how much more enjoyable it is to travel without flying.

do genuinely think the constraints of remote work produce better organisational cultures and all that but my absolute fav thing about working remotely is being able to sing Ross Kemp On Gangs whenever i like as loud as i like

Hyresgästföreningen (Sweden's tenants union) are running a big campaign against deregulation of rent control this year cos of the election as it's a likely consequence of a win for the right-wing bloc. They have this web-based calculator at https://www.hyresgasternasval.se/kalkylator where you can estimate how much your rent will go up under deregulation. It's a great campaign and every time I get an email from it in my inbox it makes me really happy.

Had completely missed that Wikipedia has banned LLM use to generate or rewrite article content. What an incredible relief that there are still competent people out there with leadership authority over important things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Writing_articles_with_large_language_models

There's a crypto/AI guy spamming every terminal devtools subreddit he can find with slop cheatsheet websites. On the Zellij subreddit I've posted my own handmade one to race him for pink slips.

There is a "clean-room AI rewrite" of the leaked Claude source on GitHub with 90k stars and a YouTube-style "No copyright infringement intended" disclaimer where the license would normally be in the README ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

if youre not on the nasa livestream right now youre missing out big time. bunch of astronauts chilling at the window describing how the moon looks close up in detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-j1uxBmis0

One of the astronauts just described how he had to cover one of the rear windows because the glare from Earth was fucking up his moon photos.

This moon shit is the coolest thing ever. Left hand side image is how the moon looks tonight from earth. Right hand side is how it looks right now on the NASA livestream. Reminds me of when somebody would glitch out of the level in Halo 2 back in the day.

The Debian project looks set to elect a woman as project lead for the first time. Made me dead happy and motivated me to try to accelerate my return to daily driving Linux. Also noticed that the usual suspects over on X are in the process of raising a reactionary mob about it. So here's a lovely song for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWUa7aAIfLE

varit ute och affischerat ikväll i malmö. loads of these bad boys. election year underway!

Have often felt one of the giveaways of text coming from an LLM is if it has the tonality of a cokehead CEO doing a Ted Talk about his business beliefs. The byelection result in Gorton and Denton has produced a statement that might force me to broaden that to include "dissident labour MP trying to rally a leadership challenge".

remember when google worked? this search for malmo news turned up an article from nearly a year ago, incorrectly marked it as "27 minutes ago", and inexplicably attached a photo of ayatollah khomeini as if the IDF were doing airstrikes on malmö tonight to bring about regime change in iran

Finding a typo in your recently sent cover letter five years ago: Oh god! I look like a total prick! There goes that one! Finding one now: Hell yeah, didn't notice I'd done that. It's a bad one too so they'll definitely spot it and they'll know I wrote this myself by hand!
