  Please can I ask the Fedi hivemind for some computer advice? I own a Surface Go 3. It is showing its age. I've eked some extra life and performance out of it with Linux, but it really just doesn't handle heavy modern websites well and even with the Windows bloat taken away it struggles. Thing is, I really like the form factor. So, is there a machine like the Surface Go 3 but more powerful? I don't really want an Android tablet or iPad; I prefer a "proper" desktop OS. Sugg...

  RE: https://mas.to/@hedders/116342042447763228 It was, indeed, quite the storm. Our house is up on top of a hill, and it gets All The Weather smack in the face. Huge amount of noise. No damage that I can find, although it seems we only got the edge of it. Those poor buggers up in Snowdonia got the full force.

  Well, I bit the bullet and did an in-place upgrade to Zorin 18 on my gaming PC. I fully expected it to go sideways, and I had a USB key ready to do a clean install and restore from backup. But ... it just worked. The upgrader did disable a couple of third party repos (for perfectly good reasons), but adding them back was the work of a moment. I'm genuinely impressed.
