    Just wrapped up &amp;quot;Tom&amp;#39;s Crossing&amp;quot; by Mark Danielewski. I&amp;#39;ll need some time to recuperate from this. Like a mad offspring of Larry McMurtry and Charles Portis with a hint of Cormac McCarthy. The structure is bold, the voice distinct. We could quibble about the ending, but it is so earned it didn&amp;#39;t bother me one bit. And my word, Landry Gatestone is instantly one of the great characters of the western genre.
