  The purpose of Medicare and Medicaid is for us to get the healthcare we need without going broke. Due to President Trump, low-income people on Medicare will have to pay more for their prescription drug coverage next year. Trump also started a pilot project to require prior authorizations for people on Medicare and gave private companies a financial reward for rejecting prior authorizations.

  Almost nobody in this country has real security in retirement. Even those who have substantial savings risk having them completely wiped out by the cost of long-term care. “The median cost of assisted living has risen 44 percent in five years, nearly double the rate of inflation.” For many, long-term care will wipe out their adult children’s savings, too, leaving them with nothing for their own retirement.
