@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt government bodies could host their own Mastodon instances. Then they'd have complete control over content. Not have to worry about an algorithm black-hole'ing their messages. And not be associated with a platform that is politically tainted.

First kitty camping trip of the year. They're indoor boys and have no interest in escaping the safety of the enclosure. But they love a bit of grass, bathing in the sun and some very short expeditions on the harness. #Cats #CatsOfMastodon #CampingKitties

@alternativeto I was ok with websites serving me adverts to generate revenue. Which is how ads used to work. But it's a level beyond that now, and far more nefarious. Websites now use trackers dressed as adverts, so third parties can collate the info, invade my privacy and flog that data in a way that could be used against me. They broke the social agreement, so I'm not accepting their ads or their cookies, and I'm blocking their trackers whenever I can.

@InternetEh to be fair, previous KPIs were probably monitored from an Excel macro that a summer placement student wrote 8 years ago, and was riddled with bugs anyway.
