@tapbots@tapbots.social why does the Pastebot page say "Texas state and local sales and use tax is included in the sales price"? I won't incur a Texas state/local sales and use tax obligation. I WILL incur a Washington state/local sales and use tax though. This sounds like I'm paying taxes I don't owe to Texas AND will owe a tax payment to my local jurisdiction as well?

All Neocities sites are down because Namecheap locked the domain without warning... and with that, taken down a huge part of the indieweb. Don't use Namecheap, and if you do it's easy to move. Namecheap's customer service is awful and they are much more expensive than alternatives. Now is the time to leave. or later maybe after you've had a snack is fine, too.

Honestly curious what people think: how can parents keep their children safe on the internet? This is many questions, but the more interesting to me aspects are: as technology exists now, what can a parent do to both provide their child access to the internet while not being negligent to their safety what could technology do or change to make things safer for kids, and also give parents some peace of mind that this is the case?

privacy tip: always remove the “si” part of links. this is used to track and connect you (person who shared the link) and whomever clicks it (cute catgirl) eg, instead of: https://youtu.be/-Gq1P2aaDqM?si=surveillanceiscool send: https://youtu.be/-Gq1P2aaDqM account linking like this can be especially dangerous for trans folks. sharing a link effectively gives anyone who sees that link access to what account you are on that service. your account can also be recommended to their friends and fam...

got curious about the @ONLYOFFICE drama and it’s pretty funny how awful of a company onlyoffice is! the russian owner/founder of onlyoffice did a fake open source project to extract free labor from community contributions while profiting off that unpaid labor onlyoffice is in no way truly open source. i wouldn’t even consider it open core. many parts of the source are obfuscated or intentionally broken so you have to use their paid versions. the code is restricted through (arguably and likely...

Now I'm curious how the data looks for us nerds over here on the fediverse: where do you register your domains? If at multiple places, let's interpret this as if you were registering a domain today, where would you register it? tackily if you don't mind boosting I'd actually like a lot of data on this I'm really curious!
