@dalfen@mstdn.social @DavidBruchmann@mastodon.world @MissGayle@urbanists.social I think it’s for CIS men worried about being sufficiently masculine. That’s a worry that is repeatedly reinforced as boys are growing and relatively few grow beyond that. I’m sure that a lot of republicans fit that category, but it’s epidemic beyond that.

@sashag@anarres.family I think the police scanners that you can generally buy are receivers, only. They scan a lot of frequencies to pick up signals from many transmitters in a frequency band, but don't have transmitters in them. Transmitting on police and emergency frequencies without a license would be quite illegal.

«Callais itself and the reactions to it are both evidence, yet again, of what’s really wrong with the Court (the extent to which it has become completely unaccountable), and why the “right” way to fix it is to reform that, rather than hope that a Democratic president will appoint justices more committed than the justices in the Callais majority to the view that the Court is just one branch among three.» 1/2

I wonder if companies investing in ventures recently made possible by de-regulation by the current administration have considered the costs when those regulations are re-applied after the current administration.

«As a reminder, the text of the Alabama statute only says that officers can demand the “name, address and an explanation of his actions” from someone they suspect of a felony. The law makes no mention of a physical ID. Jennings v. Smith thus transforms the state’s stop-and-identify law into a show-me-your-papers regime.» https://ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics/alabama-supreme-court-jennings-v-smith/

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social I used to refer to god as “she” until a woman said “if god was a woman, the plumbing would be arranged better.”
